Introduction
This paper attempts to look at understanding the kingdom of God as the central theme in the
Gospels. By considering different views, based on a healthy/sound theological opinion out of
proper analyses based on strong Biblical foundations with supporting arguments. However, in
the midst of several views; after critical analysis, I lean towards a particular view as in
conclusion based on strong conviction.
Meaning
The kingdom refers to the term basileia (“reign,” “kingdom”) and the verb symbasileuo (“to
reign with”) in other words mean that the reign of God or the presence of God.1 Also refer to
the royal power or kingship, meanwhile “area of rule” in the geographical sense, even some
times as throne; also “kingdom of heaven “ in Matthew.2 in a simple way, we can understand
that the kingdom of God is the dominion of God.

fulfillment (eschatology) everything is looking forward to an end. In the context of Jew pointing
out messianic hope that the messiah is coming at the end and to bring an end to short a new
begin.4
Futuristic Event – The Kingdom of God is yet to come. Matt 19:30; 20; Mrk 10 & Lk 13:30.
In the future there is going to be a great day of Lord were the order of living will be
changed/reversed “Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be
last.” (NIV). A great reversal “blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.”
(NIV). Therefore, what is wrong will be eliminated has come and right will be taken place.5
Inaugurated – The Kingdom of God has come when Jesus came. Matt 13.
The KOG has come and going to come again also called as the consistent eschatology in
other words the engagement is over and waiting for the marriage; it is like the mustard seed
growing secretly it doesn’t come as we are looking or expecting but Jesus, himself is the
beginning entry of the Kingdom of God in Jesus it is already made- it is already not yet.7
Conclusion
I lean toward the Inaugurated view more than the other two but not to neglect any of them at
same time of my final conclusion and analysis I say we are already living in the power of the
kingdom; kingdom is all about king and the reign of God; we are living in the present but in
the power of future “Here and Now”, “There and Then” so we are the people of the kingdom
for Jesus himself the Kingdom of God that is future and that great future had become a
present reality. KOG is not geographical or space-al for once more to keep in mind that for
Jesus himself is the Kingdom.
Yet there are more than five views about the kingdom of God. Any attempt to spiritualize to
unfulfilled prophecies is a violation literal, historical-grammatical biblical interpretation.
