What is a disease
Before we know about therapy and wellness we should know what is a disease.
As per WHO The state of health is defined as a state of complete
physical,mental,social and spiritual wellbeing and not merely an absence of disease or
infirmity.Further it is noticed that
The origin of most diseases are psychosomatic with the resultant neuro endocrine-
immune imbalance.Such as

1. Cartery diseases
2. Cancer
3. Diabetics
4. Obesity
5. BP

Stress level no doubt plays a major role in creating diseases.


I have seen my left knee problem was due to my inability to resolve some issues.

Stress disturbs blood flow and also energy flow


Whichever part is weak that is affected first.

Disease is also defined as Dis-Ease.


When you feel uneasy that is disease.

Dr.John Harrison says-


Those who resolve their childhood conflicts and are happy to be themselves will be
healthy.
Those who are unable to accept themselves will live with guilt,fear,anger
.anxieties,doubt,sorrow and eventually develop physical diseases.

Diseases may be classified as follows.


1. Physical

3. Spiritual
4. Social
Due to fear,anger,desire and jealousy our aura do not develop properly and defects
display in our aura.
At that stage we are unable to find out the disease.
Later on we get physical or mental deformities.

Another reason as per siddhi ayurved is disease may be the reason of Bata(wind)-
pita(heat) and phelgum imbalance.

Cause of diseases can be also classified under major heads.

1. Unhealthy food –as the food so is the mind


We should avoid fast food altogether.
Further non vegetarian food should be avoided because like carnivorous animals
we don’t drink through tongue and don’t have sharp teeth and have long
intestine not helpful in digestionFurther dead starts decaying.Should we get
energy from decaying food..God says-
yuktahara-viharasya
yukta-cestasyakarmasu
yukta-svapnavabodhasya
yogo bhavati duhkha-ha

Extravagance in the matter of eating, sleeping, defending and mating—which are demands of the body—
can block advancement in the practice of yoga.

2. Inactivity-absence of any productive creativeness


3. Wrong thought.-Causing harm to other.
4. Insomnia-less of sleep or food
5. Smoking and alcohol consumption.
6. Wrong life style-sleeping –getting up-eating habits
7. Dead animals fear ,anxiety and pain hormones are secreted to it’s consumers –
says a report.-That may be the cause of a disease also.
Therapy-
Placebo effect-
Is due to the patients conviction that the medicine will cure him.Because natural
forces within us are true healers of diseases.
We do postures.pranayam –kriya and meditation to activate this process.
Two patient groups kept separately for experiment.Original medicine given to one
group and energy pills to other group. But both were told that they are under proper
medication.
Both groups gave positive result.
Therefore placebo effect is a mental attitude we could find.

Mind balancing sloka by Lord Krishna-

Dukheshu udbigna manah


Sukheshu vairaga spruhah
Bita raga bhaya krodha Stitngyan munih ruchyate.
Lord Krishna says—

The object of a yogi is stitah pragyna MEANS TREATING sorrowness and happiness
alike.Mind should be balanced.
Anger ,fear have to be deserted to have a balanced mind.
1. Cure may lie in our positive thought.
For example
Bhagwat githa gives importance to our positive thought also/
Udharayate atman atmacha
Natman abhas dayet
Atmanah atma cha bandhu
Atmne ripu atmacha
The soul is witness to our thought and activity.The soul saves yourself if you do
good.Hence our souls are our enemies or friends also.

2. Meditation and yoga nidra are some methods used in curing.


3. Our happy and healthy life makes our pranic flow sound.
4. Even though yoga is better to prevent than to cure but good practice of yoga
cures many diseases also.+

Varicose vein creates blood clots in legs and lower abdomen due to blood circulation
problem.
Varicose vein may be cured by postures and pranayam to circulate blood in legs,
Indeed all our body parts need regular energy and blood flow.

Mental peace is the source of energy and postures and pranayams are source of blood
circulation.e.g Ardha mastyendrasana and agnisar are good remedy for diabetics
control.
Ujjayi is a good method to cure asthama.
So also jyothi tratak is good for back pain and spondylitis.

It is verified that mind can go deep enough to change the very pattern that designs
the body.It can wipe the mistakes off the blue prints so to say destroy any disease
like
Cancer
Coronary heart disease.
Those have disturbed the design.

In Divine life society statement it is explained that shirshasana cured the heart
disease of secretary to Garwal king.
Swami Shivanand advised shirshasana to the secretary.
Here conscious body samskar and subconscious body commands to overcome
negative samskars are helpful.Sanskars are habits.We rectify wrong habits by
commanding our subconscious mind to overpower wrong habits.
Ujjayi with khechari can prevent cancer-says yogi swami satya narayan from Bihar
school of yoga.
Sidhasana and mahaveda practice can prevent heart diseases-his research
elaborates.
Ujjayi kriya and pranayam are done in three sections.
a. From manipur to anahat
b. From manipur to visudh
c. From manipur to agyan chakra.
This method shows balance of wind –heat and phelgum.

For relieving wind we follow-for ward and back ward bending postures.
For relieving Heat we follow twisting postures and for Relieving phelgum we follow
reverse postures like sarvangasana.

like mud therapy and fasting are subject to reference here.

Digestion and appetite are day to day issues we should look into also.I have observed
Kapal Bhati (both breathe in and outs) for at least 20 minutes and Agnisar are helpful
for this purpose.

5. Pranayam is a verygood trait to cure many diseases.Neuro diseases-Heart


blocks,heavy body,insomnia ,back and knee pain like diseases may be cured
and happiness feeling like many good things may be derived from pranayam
if done regularly.
There are 9 types of pranayams.
1. Anuloma viloma
2. Vastrika –chanda vedi –surya vedi
3. Ujjayi-cough-diabetics-joint
4. Murccha-good sleep
5. Shitkari-healthy like a crow
6. Shitali
7. Vramari--memory
8. Plabini-lightness
9. Brahma gayatri-spiritual
Hath yoga is a process to balance-ida –pingala and sushamna.Five airs are-prana –
apana-saman-udan and vyan.

It is told that to extend prana you have to hold that with three bandhas-udiyan-mula
bandha and jalandhar.

The sloka as such

Yukta yukta teja bayu yukta yukta cha purayet.


Yukta vyas yogen badhiyadham sidhim vapnuyat.
As per the sloka holds are necessary during pranayam practice.
The ratio of purak-antah kumbhak-rechak and bahya kumbhak is 1:2:2:1.
Another sloka
Yokta bhyas yogen sarvah roga kshyaya arbhabet
Ayukta bhyas yogen sarvah rogah samudbharbet.
1. Shat Karma---A great device to heal through yoga-----

These practices, outlined byYogi Swatmarama in the Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā as kriya,
are Netī, Dhautī, Naulī,Basti, Kapālabhātī, and Trāṭaka.

Meditation and Chakra activation

The seven chakras are also balanced through meditation.

Swadhistan
Manipur
Anahat
Visudh
Agyan
Sahasrar
-Activation method-Om drawing-color petals-wavering the aura are further
reference here.

Eb vyasa yogen sambhavi jayate dhrubam
Netra roga vinashyati divya dristhi pradayate.
Sambhavi is a method to concentra on mid eyebrow point.
Through early and continuous practice of jyothi tratak eye diseases are cured.
So also paralysis like diseases can be healed through pranayam and chakra
activation.
2. Postures
Sthiram sukham asanam.
Any sadhana /body position of physical maneouvre with breathe awareness that is
constant and does not create pain may be a posture

Butterfly may control knee problem.

Sankha prakshyalan may cure constipation and body pain.
• Sarpasana
• Urdha hastasana
• Kati chakrasana
• Kagasana
200 gms of ghee are taken with khechidi after the process.
In India it is established that Sun salutation is best for ladies and fat
reduction.Chandra salutation is good for flexibility and fat reduction.
Mayurasana may provide a thin body and reduce your tommy.
Sarvangasana is used for a light body and spondylitis issues.

Shaktichalini is a method we may cure back pain and old age trembling.
Vks iyengar has proved that instead of doing a horde of activities concentrate on few
perfectly for 60 to 90 minutes.
Four steps of shakti chalini
1. 21 vastrika
2. 3 locks
3. Beating the seat on the ground
4. Ashwini mudra

Shakti chalini if done only 3 times may not help you.


But 10 times when you practice the same pose for a duration it may deliver your
expected result.

Very old and physically weak people.

3. Mudras
Hand mudras and bandhas are also extensively followed in yoga.Say prana mudra
is helpful for eye diseases.(Display by fingers and of 5 elements)
Apana vayu mudra for a healthy heart.
Shiva linga mudra for cough and cold.
Ashwini mudra is very good for energy and nerves.
Those people who follow Khechri mudra stay mostly happy.Like Like drinking of
nectar as explained in yoga.
Five airs are used here also.

The sloka is
Na cha jara vyadhi bhaya na cha kshudha trishna tasya
Na cha mrityu bhaya tasya jo bedhi mudra khechri.

4. Water Therapy-
What is vyaghra dhouti and jala dhouti.
If we practice warm salt water vomiting after one hour of food it is
vyaghra dhouti.
Jala dhouti-jala neti –vyaghra dhouti-hip bath –water pouring methods are some of
the methods are widely accepted and verified by yoga experts.

I frequently used to take pain killers and flexon tablet to relax my body pain.But I
followed Hot water bath and was able to avoid body pain altogether.

Seeing my body pain many people told that better I check my sugar level.But trust in
yoga saved my habits of life.
Also to take 5 glasses of water on morning in empty stomach at a time and avoiding
tablets may cure many diseases like constipation,acidity and stomach problems.

5. Heartfulness Meditation.

This is one of the best methods I tried to follow in curing various diseases.
1. Reduces heart disease as blood and energy flow to heart and related organs.
2. May balance our left side paralysis.
3. Very effective in curing insomnia.
4. Calmness of mind is achieved.
5. Bigyanmaya –intellectual sheath is activated.
6. You are subject to group transmission of energies,
Heartfulness meditation has 3 steps to practice.

a) Minimum one hour concentration on heart and unattending any other thoughts.
b) Contemplate----Oh master-you are objective-I am creating hindrances to that
objective by making pious wishes.
c) Contemplating that Heart is getting cleaned up from negatives through our back
and new and positive thought are getting filled up there.

6. Reiki therapy—
By placing palms over various parts of the body when we draw symbols on forehead
And psycholgically stay positive for disease removal- under a reiki master –we get in
to reiki therapy.
This method is considered a good therapy method also.Energy is given on 24 points
for 3 minutes each.Further listening to music is a kind of practice used in Reiki
therapy.Strictly speaking this is a salt water therapy.

7. Mental illness therapy.-Elaborate


a. Vramari
b. Listening to sounds-near -distance
c. Yoga nidra
d. Hypnosis
e. So aham practice.
8. Dieting
Fasting and having less food .honey ,fruit juice .cow ghee.vegetarian food have been
a standard practice in therapy pursue also.
Yoga people also refer some natural herbs in Diet-Tulasi-Ama,Alovera-Lemon
,Tumeric
Mantras are also used for therapy.Mantras are names.Say Hiranya garvaya-Consisting
of gold.Om namah shivaya –Air god-Om amrutaya-Om nectar god etc.DLS-Shree
Ambika and GGM example.
Benefits of various therapies.
1. It helps endocrine metabolism
2. Vents toxin from the body
3. Anti aging methods.
4. Reduce the catabolic process of cell deterioration.
5. Cures BP-Diabetics and arthritis.
6. Gives you mental peace.

Maharshi Patanjali’s Yama and niyama


Perhaps he is right to conclude that mere physical activities may not provide us the
desired result.Hence He prescribed social and self discipline for yoga.

1. Reflective examination of self knowledge –i.e knowledge of spiritual self.


2. Care of self in the right way
For example we take unhealthy food and hesitate to practice yoga.Staying
indifferent to yoga we invite unhealthy practices.
3. Awakening divine in activity.

c. Happiness
4. Purity in our thought-mind and intellect take care of our spiritual well being.

5. Bhagawat githa sloka-

Idam sariram kounteya kshetra mitya bhi dhiyate.


Idam jo beti to prahu kshetragyan iti tadbitah.

The body is a divine field.A divine temple.The god is our soul.We can master the
divine temple if we can explore our divine soul.
6. Helping yourself to understand and transform yourself,
Wellness also may be defined from the point that.
1. Are you healthy?
2. Are you satisfied
3. Are you successful?

A spiritual person is one who is in awareness of his inner mine of qualities and
powers.

Last but not the least-
The greatest wellness could be a feeling of self-fulfillment.
Mahatma Budha left worldly goods, meditated and became godly.
Definitely he choosed a spiritually wellness programme.
We may not have enough money to be a doctor.
We may not have enough qualification to be a scientist.We may not have good
strength and enough space for zym practice.

Still we can meditate and practice with simplicity.Ultimately we prove our


worth,get recognized and earn respect and money.
Wellness includes simplicity

Yoga developes your character to be humble and simple.Like a policeman’s


character is to catch the thief so also our inner good self become more active.More
alert to ensure that we achieve the best terms in our life.

Therapy and Wellness may be analyzed from another point also.

The Name –The art of living by shri shri Ravi Shankar and inner engineering by
Sadguru shows wellness has very wide scope than mere therapy.

1. How we eat-sleep or plan to maximum potential


2. What we do and How we pray
3. How we keep relationship etc

Similarly inner engineering means- The function of our body mind and soul-the merits
and demerits-the method to derive maximum benefit-for self and the society,The

Hey Arjuna----I am Arjuna among pandanvah-and amongst all knowledge and studies
–I am spiritual science and argument among final conclusion.

Hence it is concluded that spiritual wellbeing is most important dimension of


human wellbeing and whole of yoga activities are channeled to attain that.
Here wellness means the whole of living activities.
