This activity guide cover steps to create an account on Oracle Cloud access Cloud Dashboard for
two Cloud Courses

2 STEPS TO REGISTER FOR ORACLE CLOUD

This guide assume that you don’t have Oracle Cloud Account and register for Cloud
Access first time.

Note: If you already have Oracle Cloud Account then you can skip this section and go to generate
SSH Keys

1. Go to the Oracle Cloud Home Page https://cloud.oracle.com/home

2. On top right click Free Trial

3. You will be redirected to page like below, click on Get Started for FREE

Note: Earlier you used to get 1 Month Free Trial but from Feb 2017, you get 300 USD FREE
Credit that must be used in 30 Days (As of April 2017)

4. You will then be redirect to page

5. On next page like below
a. If you already have account on oracle.com (like My Oracle Support or Metalink) then
click Sign In

else

b. Provide details and click on Create Account (This step you are create account on
Oracle site and not Cloud)

6. A) If you have an exisinting Account on oracle.com (like My Oracle Support) then click Sign
In

B) If you never registsred on Oracle Website oracle.com then enter Name, Last Name,
Email Address, and click on Create Account

Then verify youe email that you register above at oracle.com

 7. Now login with this new or existing account for oracle.com

7. Provide your Mobie Number and click on Request Code (make sure country code is
correct, I am doing this form UK so code +44)

8. You will get message on your mobile phone (You have 30 Minutes on above page to
update or request code again)

9. Once you enter code on above Cloud Sign-Up form , you should get message verified

10. On Account Details scree, select Company or Individual (depending on if you are
registering for your company or yourself). We are selecting Individual

11. Select Account Type, Enter Address, Phone Number , Tax Detail, Select T & C and click
Complete

Note: If you don’t want your Trial Account to Pay as You Go after free promotion for 30 Days then
uncheck first option.

12. Even though you get 300 USD FREE Credit , you still have to provide Credit Card Details.

Note: You still need to enter credit card but you can set not to extend access after 30 Days

3.1 Shop Database Cloud

Service (DBCS)

1. Login to https://shop.oracle.com using userID / Passowrd for oracle.com

3. Click on Buy Now button next to Oracle Database Cloud Services and price as
Baased on Actul Usages

4. You will get message like “ The Oracle Database Public Cloud Services must be
purchased as a bundle along with the Oracle IaaS Public Cloud Services on the Oracle
Store. Both items will be automatically added to the cart upon purchase “ click on Add
to Cart button at bottom right

5. You will get confirmation message Added to Cart and 2 items will be added to Cart

6. Click on View Cart blue button when you click on Cart on top right , you should see
page like below

4. You will get confirmation message Added to Cart and item will be added to Cart

3.3 Checkout Shopping Basket

1. Click on View Cart blue button when you click on Cart on top right , you should
see page like below

2. On clicking Checkout, you will get message like CSI will be created so click on button
Save and Continue at bottom right

3. On Next screen , you will get Additional Information like Tax Information and Billing ,
click on button Save and Continue at bottom right

5. You finally get Terms & Conditions, so check Accept and click on Save and
Continue

6. You get final confirmation check and you can order by clicking button Place

7. You will get confirmation message that Order has been placed and you will get
Order Numebr and CSI number

4 LOGIN FIRST TIME TO ORACLE CLOUD

1. Access Oracle Cloud at http://cloud.oracle.com and Click on Sign In

2. Once you Sign in you will see two portals : “My Services” and “My Accounts”.
Below the Cloud Account, Select your Data Center and click on “My Services”

Note: Datacenter details should be in Welcome Email you received at time of Cloud
Registration

 Note: This will be different depemding on zone you are into

3. This will take you to the page where you have to add your Identity Domain,To get the
Identity Domain, you can go to your email address and copy the Identity Domain.
Enter it and then click on “Go” button.

4. Then you’ll have to enter your temporary “My Services” credentials and click on “Sign
In”. You can also change this temporary password once you login with it.

 Note: This User ID is also case sensitive and login ID and password is one received in
your Inbox

5. You will be prompted to reset password and set your Challenge Question (retrieve
password in case you forget it)

6. Now, you will be redirected back to the Services Dashboard similar to dashboard of
you’re My Account portal.

 You will use Cloud Dashboard to Access other consoles like Dataabase Service
Cosnole, IaaS Cosnole for EBS R12, Cloud Storage Console for backup &
Recovery, Java Cloud Service for WebLogic or SOA Cloud Service Console for SOA
on Cloud

Note: In Next section, you will create SSH keys that is pre-requisite to create any type of
Instance like Database, Exadata, E-Business Suite, SOA, WebLogic etc on Cloud

5 GENERATE SSH KEYS (PUBLIC & PRIVATE)

Before you can create Database or EBS (R12) instance on Cloud, you must generate SSH Key
Pair (Private & Public Keys) so that you can connect to Linux Machine on which Database or EBS
R12 is installed .
Public Key will be uploaded on Oracle Cloud Server while private key must be kept safe with
you

5.1 Generate SSH Private &

Public Keys using PuttyGEN

In this section we download WinSCP installer with puttygen (Utility to connect to Unix
server) from and
a) Generate Private & Public Key on local Laptop or PC using puttygen keygen tool
from putty that we created in previous section (make a note of location of private &
public Key)

 b) When we create Database as a Service Instnce, you provide public key that gets
stored on Oracle Dabase Cloud Service Server (It is OK to share Public Key but
never share Private Key)
c) Future connection from local Laptop/PC is securily done over SSH and is
Authenticated using Private/Public Key pair

Depending on operating system of your laptop or desktop (Windows or Mac) refere resepective
section to generate SSH Private and Public Keys

5.1.1 IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE FOR GENERATING SSH KEYS

1. Make sure you use SSH-2 RSA for generating SSH key and if you don’t see then
use latest puttyGen, we are using

2. Make sure you don’t save Public Key by clicking on Save button but copy and
then save to text file on computer in same directory where you have private key
(Public Key will be uploaded to Oracle Cloud but keep private key safe with you)

 3. You can click on Save Private Key button to save private key in same directory
with public key but with extensiton ppk

5.1.2 GENERATE KEYS ON WINDOWS LAPTOP/DESKTOP

You can either use puttyGen from WinScp (Provided you get option SSH-2 RSA for Type of Key)
otherwise downaload puttyGen from http://puttygen.software.informer.com/download/

Note: If you are on Mac then check steps later in this section

1. You can use WinSCP (provided PuttyGen in WInSCP shows SSH-2 RSA key), Open
Tools and Run PuTTYGen you’ll have the advanced optioin of using the ‘PuttyGen’ ,

Click “Run PuttyGen”.

2. As per the Oracle documentation, we need SSH-2 RSA to generate the key, because it
is the latest one.

3. If you don’t see SSH-2 RSA in puttyGen as part of WinSCP, Download puttygen from
http://puttygen.software.informer.com/download/

4. Install PuttyGen Click “Run PuttyGen
5. You must use SSH-2 RSA to generate the key, because it is the latest one and required
by Oracle .

 6. To generate the keys, Click on Genegate and hover your mouse around the area blank
area randomly as shown:

7. There will be a key generated in the blank box,as shown below.

NOTE : Do not save the Public key directly by clicking the Save Public Key button, as its not
allowed, rather you can copy and paste them in the Notepad to save.

You can save the Private key directly, you can also set a passphrase(password) for it
asper the security concerns.Private keys are saved with the extension .ppk.

Note: We are not setting passpharse for ease (In production you must use passphrase to
protect your private key).

 After generating and saving both the keys, you can go back to the Cloud Portal

8. This will generate Private & Public Key, Save them to your Laptop/Desktop.

Note: Make a note of these two keys as you will need public key in next Activity Guide.

5.1.3 GENERATE SSH KEYS ON MAC

If you are on Mac and using Terminal (and not Putty) then follow
