A. Alexa Hernandez
B. My classmates and I went to a field trip from Kaiser Permanente, we were taught how to
communicate with a patient and how it is to be a nurse, doctor or any role in the medical
field.
C. HSB field trip. We learned a lot of skills of communication, teamwork, and active listening.
They showed us how to be able to attend a patient with a certain problem the patient
had. We also had a role of a certain kind of doctor specialist, for example one classmate
was a radiologist another was a doctor there was a nurse and a therapist. We got to
experience a live birth seminar and a surgery seminar. We had the opportunity to
interact and meet new people from different districts that were not from santa rosa,
which was an incredible experience. We got to meet people that have different jobs in
the medical field and we got to interact with them and talk to them about how they got
into the position they are now and how they managed to achieve to become a specialist
in the medical field. I learned a new technique on how to apply hand sanitizer when you
have a patient to attend, the first step is you apply a small amount of hand sanitizer,
second step rub hands together palm to palm spreading the hand sanitizer, third step
rub back of each hand with palm of each hand with palm of the other hand with the
fingers interlaced, fourth step rub palm to palm with fingers interlaced, fifth step rub back
of fingers to opposite palms with fingers interlocked, sixth step rub each thumb clasped
in opposite hand using a rotational movement, seventh step rub tips of fingers in
opposite palm in a circular motion, eighth step rub each wrist with the opposite hand.
That was the hand hygiene technique. An interesting thing I saw was the live birth
seminar, it looked so real and just by participating you feel like your an actual doctor
which was amazing but also appealing for certain people.
D. It was all interesting and an amazing experience also by kaiser being the program which
made it more fun because many classmates or people that would like to work in kaiser
got to go in and do seminars with certain employees from kaiser permantee and different
specialist from different areas. It made me think that there is opportunity for any person
that desires to be in the medical field you don't have to be an actual nurse or doctor
because kaiser permanente also offers receptionist or computer work, interpretation, and
front desk receivers ,this means that you can work at kaiser without having to be a
doctor. Three questions I have are 1. What characteristics do you look for in employees
in order to represent the standard values for kaiser? My second question was 2. What do
you see as the most challenging aspect of this job? And my last question was 3. What
would be the negative or restrictive aspect of medicine from a professional standpoint?
