P- Physical Design- CAD Model

Document called- ConOps(Concept of Operations) is created

A ConOps is a document describing the characteristics of a proposed system from the

viewpoint of the individual who will use the system like a business requirement
specification or stake holder requirement specification
Systems Requirement Specification document (SyRs)

 Architecture Definition process

 Representation of Functional architecture in a Platform
 Traceability between requirements

Detailed design Process

 Model and simulate individual systems

 Perform integration tests
 Logical Architecture

Landing Gear Physical model:

 Validation of Design with Mathematical model

 Integrate RFLP platform
 Perform Traceability Matrix

System Requirements Definition:

1. Shock absorber Requirements

a. Shock absorber for MLG should be designed to withstand a load
equivalent of 40 tonne
b. Shock absorber for NLG should be designed to withstand a load
equivalent of 4 tonne
2. Extension Retraction Requirements
a. Individual operation of extension/retraction of the landing Gear should
be in 10-12 seconds
b. Design of the MLG should be such that complete retraction of the same
should be under the Main Fuselage
c. Design of the NLG should be such that complete retraction of the same
should be under the aircraft Nose
d. The actuators used to withstand the load during extension*/retraction
should be able to withstand 250N
e. There should be provision to lock the NLG and MLG while not in
operation
3. Landing Gear Uplock/ Downlock Requirements
a. There should be provision to lock the LG and MLG when completely
extended(downlock) and Retracted (uplock)
b. Design of downlock mechanism should be able to withstand 250N
4. Landing Gear Door Requirements
a. Individual operation of opening or closing of the door for both NLG and
MLG should be complete in 5 seconds
b. There should be provision to lock and unlock the MLG & NLG doors while
not in operation
c. Actuator design used for the operation of the door should be able to
withstand a load of 250 N
5. Steering System Requirement
a. Design of the steering systems used in the NLG of the aircraft should be
able to provide a turn of 65°deg
6. Hydraulic Pressure Requirements
a. A pressure of 207 Bar(3000Psi) from a single source will be made
available for operation of LG system
b. Design should be such that the LG observation should not be affected by
reduced pressure in case of emergency
7. Pilot Console Requirements
a. The design of LG should be such that pilot should be able to operate the
LG with below inputs
UP- LG retract sequence initiated
OFF-LG system is depressurized. All gears and doors are held in the
current position which is fully extended /retracted’
DN- LG extension sequence is initiated
b. The pilot will have a visual indication to check the position and warning
for any malfunction of the LG
