MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
a) Applicants for Masters programmes should hold:
A first degree with at least second class honors or its equivalent obtained from a
recognized institution by National Council for Higher Education. A Graduate with a pass
degree is advised to start with a postgraduate Diploma.
b) Applicants for Degree programmes should hold:
i. At least 5 passes at UCE obtained at the same sitting and at least 2 principal
passes at UACE obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent; OR
ii. Hold a Credit or Second class Diploma in the relevant field from a recognized
Institution passed at Credit or Distinction level; OR,
iii. At least a pass (50%) in Mature Age Entry Examinations.
c) Applicants for Diploma programmes should hold:
i. At least 5 passes at UCE obtained at the same sitting and 1 principal pass plus
2 subsidiary passes (in subjects done at principle level) at UACE obtained at the
same sitting or its equivalent; OR,
ii. Hold a Certificate of at least 2 years’ duration from a recognized Institution
passed at Credit or Distinction level.
d) Applicants for Certificate programs should hold:
At least 5 passes at UCE obtained at the same sitting and at least 3 subsidiary
passes at UACE obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.
e) Applicants who hold academic qualifications obtained from other countries (other
than Uganda) should have them equated and verified by UNEB (and or) NCHE
before they can apply.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Application forms are available at a non–refundable fee for both the Postgraduate
programmes and the Undergraduate programmes from the Office of the Academic
Registrar.
Certificate in Nursing: Applicants should be within the age bracket, posses UCE
certificate with at least five passes in English, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry,
and any other subject. Time duration is two and half years.
Diploma in Nursing: Minimum requirements are: credit in English, Biology, Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry. A principle pass in Biology at A–level, two subsidiary passes in
any of the following subjects; Chemistry, Physics, Food and Nutrition and Mathematics.
