INTRODUCTION:
My name is WARDA MEHMOOD. My Father name is MUHAMMAD MEHMOOD ALAM. I was born on
08TH JULY 1993. My family is known among the educated and noble families of the town. My
grandparents and parents always taught me and my siblings, if you want to be successful in your life
never stop learning because learning is the key to success. So, I keep this thing in my mind and always
try to learn some new skills and try to understand the new technologies.

The importance of higher education is paramount in today’s world. I am fortunate to have my

grandfather and my parents who made sure that I received top quality education and are ready to fund
my master’s course and living expenses while I study in Australia.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:
Since preschool, English has been my academic language throughout my academic career. My academic
background is as follows:

Matriculation

I was always considered among the bright students of my class. I was really active in both academic and
extra-curricular activities. My parents always help me in studies. It made me capable of achieving good
grades throughout my school life. I completed my Matriculation from north city public school with A
grade.

Intermediate:

Good grades in my matriculation took me to the Government Degree College Block M Karachi, the best
college in Karachi for girls, where I chose Pre-Medical group. I did my Intermediate with C grade.

Bachelors:

After intermediate I got admission in ZIAUDDIN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY. In enrolled in Doctor of Physical
Therapy program. Basically, it is a 5-year program, which I have completed with 2.5 CGPA. I have done
my house job as well in a tertiary care hospital. Working in a hospital was really tough, even though I
have to work on public holidays, but I am coping with it really well because I have taken an oath to serve
humanity.

English language requirement:

To get admission in overseas university I have to fulfil their English language requirement. For that I
have already given INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEST. I achieve 7 bands overall.

Why Australia and Why Western Sydney university?

Australian universities are internationally renowned for their high standards and qualifications. Based on
my own research and discussions with friends, relatives and acquaintances that have completed their
studies in Australia, I am expecting to find Australia to be a relaxed and welcoming place for me to
acclimatize to.

There are a number of other reasons that make Australia a preferred choice for me. Sydney is
consistently rated as one of the world's best cities; a city that offers a desirable range of leisure choices,
safety and security with world-class education and healthcare, which makes studying there so much
easier. Australia also offers excellent value for money and a standard of living that is among the highest
in the world. In short, Australia has a multi-cultural society with high quality education and global
recognition.

There are several reasons why I choose western Sydney university. First because of its location, and
many campuses in Sydney. Sydney is one of the liveliest cities of Australia. As far as I know people who
live there are very kind and generous, they maintain very proper environment for overseas students.

Let’s discuss something about the university itself. In 2019 the QS World University Rankings ranks the
university 25th in Australia, coming 5th in Sydney. it is currently ranked in the top 400 in the world in the
2019 THE World University Rankings and 19th in Australia. Western Sydney University is ranked 24th in
Australia in 2020 according to the QS World University Rankings. It considers as the most globally
recognizable university. University provide many facilities to their students. Western Sydney University's
academic activity is organized into "schools". Currently, the university has nine schools, which provide
high quality of education in various fields.

I am fond of doing research, I am glad to know that western Sydney university provides a platform to
their graduates to do research. University has 11 research centers. This is the era of evidence-based
practice so we definitely need to do research, specially people related to medical, health care and health
sciences profession so that we can provide quality of treatment to the nation and we can serve
humanity.

Why masters in health sciences?

So, as I wrote in my academic background that I have completed my bachelors in doctor of physical
therapy, and I have done my 1-year house job as well in a tertiary care hospital. Currently I am working
in a private physical therapy clinic. From where my interest develops in this course? While working in a
hospital I met with various people and know about their professions. So, I find it really interesting that
how people with a degree of masters in health sciences work in the hospital’s management or some
organizations.

Health sciences is a wide field. There are certain major courses which can be selected to do masters in
health sciences. As a physical therapist I have seen many patients and clients of different age group, but
particularly my interest is in aged care management. Because I really like to work with older generation,
they are polite and generous. During my bachelor I studied a course gerontology and geriatrics this

course is all about older aged, their body changes, mood swings, counseling methods to overcome from
their denial phase because of loss of spouse or certain other reason.

Have I considered studying a similar course at other universities in Australia or my home country? What
are my reasons for choosing western Sydney university over these other options?

In Pakistan, a foreign degree from a recognized university is more appealing and acknowledged than a
local degree in Pakistan for obvious reasons such as established system of learning that provides high
quality teaching and experience with cutting edge research and career counseling.

As a result, a Master’s degree from Australia is likely to give me the competitive advantage that is
required by every corporate professional in Pakistan for a promising career. Western Sydney university
was on top of my list based on its highly ranked reputation, quality of education, global recognition and
affordability.

How will the course benefit my future career?

As a physical therapist there are variety of options for me to pursue my career. I have selected masters
in health sciences (aged care management) with this degree I am able to work in various organizations in
my home country. There is ample amount of organization in my country work for older population. After
getting this degree I have many options to work with higher salaries in comparison with physical
therapy. There are many job vacancies for this position in my country.

Future plans- ties with home country:

I wish to complete my master’s degree from Australia. After completion of my studies, I will come back
to my home country as I have very close attachments with my parents and siblings. They have always
supported me in every part of my life. After completing my degree, I will come back to Pakistan and play
my part in the development of the country in the field of health sciences.

I really want to work in my home country. With master’s degree I can get many options to work for the
growth and development of my country. I can work for the betterment of management area of many
organizations, hospitals, government and private sector. Apart for job, this master’s degree will help me
for my personal growth and upgrade my professional value, with that I can be a better person for my
motherland.

Who Will Sponsor my Studies?

My grandfather will sponsor my studies. As I am very close to him and is willing to afford my studies
expenses.

Conclusion
I believe that compassion and humor are the key to success in any given path. As I embark upon a new
stage of life, I believe that a post graduate study will provide a milestone in my career along with
Masters in Health Sciences (aged care management), Western Sydney University

invaluable experiences that will allow me to become a successful and innovative professional. This
degree from Australia will hugely assist me in accomplishing my goals.
