11. Health & Safety Provisions.

1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
This method statement is intended to inform the client how the work will be delivered in
the site associated with risks and the precautions to be taken during working
implementation. the purpose of this statement:

 To outline how the work will be achieved in the site.

 To meet the drawings & specifications requirements.
 To predict possible problems.

2. SCOPE:
The scope of this method statement covers a complete Installation of UPVC Drainage
Piping Under / Above Ground Network as per project's specifications and approved shop
drawings and approved materials.

5.Responsibilities:
Project Manager

1. Ensure that all the preparation and application works are carried out according to
the contract, specification and with the approved drawings.

2. Ensure that the progressing of work is carried out according to the planned
program and as per the approved method of statement.

3. To ensure that all the equipment and materials required to execute the work are
available according to the planned construction program.

4. To Co-ordinate with the main contractor, MEP Coordinator and safety Officer, for
a safe and proper execution of the works.

MEP Site Manager

 Ensure is in charge of implementing of method statement and ensures that his

team are aware of this method of statement and all the proper resources without
any delay and to ensure that the responsibility for ensuring safe working
activities

QC/QA Engineer:

 is responsible to ensure work has been done on the proper terms of project
specifications, approved inspection requests and under total Quality plan
recommendations in addition to offer the implemented works to the Consultant.
And ensure that the installation procedures are done as per Approved Method
Statement, shop drawing and Composite Trades Drawings.

Safety Supervisor

 is responsible for ensuring that all Safety precautions are in place and all
individuals in working area are fulfilled with HSE required for work Issue.

Foreman

 The foreman will carry out his duties by maintaining continuous coordination with
the site engineer on daily basis, and ensure proper distribution of the workforce in
the required and planned locations.

 To ensure that his assistant foreman/ charge hand are aware of the job
requirements and they have enough information to carry out their duties properly.

 To ensure in consultation with the site engineer that the manpower involved in the
works are moving as agreed and planned for the work.

 To ensure that the daily work is progressing as planned and advice the site
engineer of any requirement for additional resources. To control disposal of waste
materials according to instructions received from the site engineer.

 To ensure full coordination with the safety officer to maintain safe working and
proper housekeeping of the site, following the approved safety measures and
further ensure that all his working team are aware of the same to prevent accident
and losses.

 To inform the site engineer and of the areas ready for inspection.

 Control of material shall be monitored by foreman and store keeper.

 Store Keeper

 To ensure that the material stored in ware house is safe and stored in a proper
way away of any damage

 To ensure that the material shall not be handled without an official approval of
the site engineer.

 To ensure that a daily material withdrawal Letter to the engineer responsible for it

7. MATERIALS:
The materials are predicated to be used:

 All materials shall be submitted for approval prior to procurement and delivery to
site.

 Materials shall be inspected on delivery site, to ensure compliance with the

approved submittal. An Over, Shortage, and Damage report shall be completed for
all deliveries.

 All related documents, such as delivery notes, country of origin, etc., shall be
available along with materials when delivered to site using MIR.

 Material shall be stored appropriately or placed on shelving units within the

warehouse area.

 Care shall be taken to prevent the ingress of dirt or foreign objects into materials.

8. Methodology:
8.1 Preparation works

Before commencement of any pipework installation the following are required to be

carried out.

8.1.1 Check pipe work to be installed is indicated on approved construction

drawings.

8.1.2 Check materials to be used have an approved material submittal.

8.1.3 Check work area is clean and safe.

8.2 Above Ground Installation Installation Procedure

 Measure length of pipe required, making due allowance for any pipe fittings
to be used. Cut the pipe to the measured length, ensuring that all burrs are
removed from the pipe.

 Determine the position of the pipe supports and mark out on the concrete.
Drill the holes in the concrete using the appropriate size drill as
recommended by the anchor fixing manufacturer.

Installing Vertical Piping

1. Secure vertical piping at intervals sufficiently close to maintain correct pipe

alignment and to support the weight of the pipe and its contents. Support
stacks at their bases and at sufficient floor intervals to meet the requirements
of local codes.

2. Use approved riser clamps, or friction clamps for this purpose. If vertical pipe is
required to stand free of any support by design specifications, or if no
structure is available for support and stability during construction,.

Installing Horizontal Piping

1. Support horizontal piping and fittings at intervals sufficiently close to maintain

correct pipe alignment and to prevent sagging or grade reversal.

2.Support each length of pipe with an approved hanger located as close to the
joint as possible.

Installing Horizontal Fittings

1. Use hangers as required to provide proper alignment and grade.

2. Install a hangar at every horizontal branch connection.

3. Always install hangers within 18 inches and more of the joint to maintain
correct system alignment and to prevent structural sagging.

5. The correct use of hangers shall provide proper piping system grade.

6. Finished fixing all horizontal pipes/fittings.

7. After Install vertical pipes Cover the vertical pipes with end cap cover.

8. Raise up an inspection request for approval.

 Slab on grade Piping:

 Bedding layer under pipes to be formed and leveled as same slope and
checked by survey team as per approved shop drawing.
 Install UPVC sewage system pipes in compliance with lines, grades,
location and slope as per approved drawings

 Use thurst blocks, or other suitable methods at each branch

opening or change in direction .

Pipes joints to be backfilled by sand cover layer after test pass

 Fix supports in position ensuring that all fixings are secure.

 Position the pipe in the supports, check for correct level and position and,
if necessary, make adjustment on the pipe support.

 Make joints of all fittings by:

 Clean both the end of the pipe and inside the fitting.

 Cut the pipe at right angles to the pipe axis using suitable pipe cuter.

 Remove any burrs or cutting chips by deburring the cutting area.

Floor Cleanouts

Floor cleanouts shall be provided as per the locations on shop drawings.

Depending upon the connection it may be either 45 degree Roding eye or
straight Roding eye. It should be UPVC material and should be supplied as
per Specs Section (15412 ).

Floor Drains

Each floor drain shall be of UPVC. Drain shall be the same material as the
pipe connected to it as per Specs Section (15412 ).

Roof Drains

Install roof drains at low points of roof areas, in accordance with the roof
membrane manufacturer's installation instructions so that no leakage occurs
between roof drain and adjoining roofing as per Specs Section (15412 ).

Hangers and Support Installation Guidelines

The Work shall consist of furnishing and installation of all hangers and
supports for Drainage piping Network as per Specs Section (15140 ).

9.Inspection and Test plan:

 Check the underground pipes installed before putting fine sand.

 Check levels of Fixture Units drain (wash basin, Water Closet, Kitchen Sink, etc.)

 Check for straight look for vertical Piping.

 Check for pipe invert level based on shop drawing.

 Test the piping of plumbing drainage and venting systems upon completion of
the rough piping installation. Tightly close all openings in the piping system, and
fill with water to the point of overflow, but not less than 3000 mm of head.
Water level shall not drop during the period from 15 minutes before the
inspection starts, through completion of the inspection. Inspect all joints for leaks
as per specs (section 15412).
 Water of test may be used for cleaning branch after test finish by allowing water
to be escaped from downstream under its gravity pressure.

10.Manpower Requirement:

11.Health & Safety Provisions:

 The All site safety rules and regulations shall be adhered to.
 Provide and maintain a Safe Scaffolding / Access for Working Personnel.
 Assure that all working personnel are aware of the safety instructions and are
following them.
 Ensure work area is clean and tidy.
 Safety equipment (example Hard hats, Safety shoes, Coveralls, Gloves, Goggles
when necessary etc.) to be worn at all times.
