Ataman Installation for EnterpriseIQ

IMPORTANT: The Ataman utility is designed to provide remote access capabilities for scanners which
must operate over a wide area network(WAN) and handles the heavy communication with the Oracle
server. This reduces the need to send large amounts of data over the WAN which results in better
response times when working from remote plants. In order to properly achieve these results, Ataman
must reside in the same physical location as the Oracle server.

This TechNote outlines the instructions for installing and configuring Ataman for EnterpriseIQ.

1. Ensure the EnterpriseIQ client is installed on the PC, and IQRF.exe is in the local home
shown in IQStatus - Installer.
2. Install ATRLS - Note: Your user account must have Local Admin permission to install.
a. Create a local folder ‘atrls’ on the PC.

b. Go to the Ataman website, www.ataman.com, and download the atrls program files to
the folder.
c. Unzip the files to ‘atrls’ and install by typing “atrls install start” in a DOS window or
command prompt.

3. Configure Ataman - Open ‘Ataman TCP Remote Logon Services’ from the Control panel.
a. Click the ‘Users’ tab, then click ‘Add User’ and add the user name ataman
b. Add a Windows logon that is a member of the ‘Local Admin’ group in ‘NT User Name’
c. Enter the network domain that belongs to the windows login account defined above.

d. The ‘Interactive Cmd Processor’ field must be defined as ‘iqrf.bat’. You must create
‘iqrf.bat’ which needs to reside in the path of the Home Directory (c:\artls). You can
use the below as a template for your .bat file.
Note: In the example below, the ‘M:’ is the mapped drive to the Master Home, and the
SERVER_NAME is the name of the machine where the Master Home resides:

===== COPY BELOW =====

@echo off
net use M: /delete
net use M: \\SERVER_NAME\iqms
"C:\Program Files (x86)\IQMS\IQWin32\iqrf.exe"
===== COPY ABOVE =====
4. In the ‘Prompts’ tab, enter the following information:

a. Logon Prompt:

i. Default Response: ataman (created in step 3a).

ii. Force Default

b. Password Prompt:

i. Default Response: Windows Password for account setup in step 3b.

ii. Force Default

c. Mode Prompt: varies depending on scanner manufacturer.

i. Default Response: Simple

ii. Force Default

d. Terminal Type Prompt: varies depending on scanner manufacturer.

i. VTXXX

ii. Force Default

If you are not sure which ‘mode’ and ‘terminal type’ to use, then you will need to consult
your scanner manufacturer. The options provided in this TechNote will provide a
successful connection using Telnet from another computer on the network, which is
suitable for testing purposes. You can also test the different options with the scanner
until a successful logon occurs.

b. Disable TCP KeepAlives: unchecked.

c. Common WinStations (0 disables): 1.

d. Sessions Per WinStation: equal to the number of WMS licenses you have.

6. Assign a static IP address (IPv4) to the Ataman server. It is recommended to reserve the IP
Address on the Network Layer (Firewall).

7. If Windows Firewall is enabled on the Ataman server, ensure that port 23 is open for Inbound
and Outbound traffic in the Windows Firewall for the Ataman server.

8. Testing connection with Telnet.

You can test the Ataman installation by using Telnet. In order to do so, you will need to make
sure the Telnet Client is installed on a computer on your network.

a. This can be done by opening Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn
Windows features on or off. Check the box for ‘Telnet Client’. ‘Telnet Server’ is not
required.

b. Once Telnet Client installation is complete, open the command prompt. To start a
telnet session on the Ataman server, or another machine on the network, type
