IMPORTANT: The Ataman utility is designed to provide remote access capabilities for scanners which
must operate over a wide area network(WAN) and handles the heavy communication with the Oracle
server. This reduces the need to send large amounts of data over the WAN which results in better
response times when working from remote plants. In order to properly achieve these results, Ataman
must reside in the same physical location as the Oracle server.
This TechNote outlines the instructions for installing and configuring Ataman for EnterpriseIQ.
1. Ensure the EnterpriseIQ client is installed on the PC, and IQRF.exe is in the local home
shown in IQStatus - Installer.
2. Install ATRLS - Note: Your user account must have Local Admin permission to install.
a. Create a local folder ‘atrls’ on the PC.
b. Go to the Ataman website, www.ataman.com, and download the atrls program files to
the folder.
c. Unzip the files to ‘atrls’ and install by typing “atrls install start” in a DOS window or
command prompt.
d. The ‘Interactive Cmd Processor’ field must be defined as ‘iqrf.bat’. You must create
‘iqrf.bat’ which needs to reside in the path of the Home Directory (c:\artls). You can
use the below as a template for your .bat file.
Note: In the example below, the ‘M:’ is the mapped drive to the Master Home, and the
SERVER_NAME is the name of the machine where the Master Home resides:
a. Logon Prompt:
i. VTXXX
If you are not sure which ‘mode’ and ‘terminal type’ to use, then you will need to consult
your scanner manufacturer. The options provided in this TechNote will provide a
successful connection using Telnet from another computer on the network, which is
suitable for testing purposes. You can also test the different options with the scanner
until a successful logon occurs.
d. Sessions Per WinStation: equal to the number of WMS licenses you have.
6. Assign a static IP address (IPv4) to the Ataman server. It is recommended to reserve the IP
Address on the Network Layer (Firewall).
7. If Windows Firewall is enabled on the Ataman server, ensure that port 23 is open for Inbound
and Outbound traffic in the Windows Firewall for the Ataman server.
You can test the Ataman installation by using Telnet. In order to do so, you will need to make
sure the Telnet Client is installed on a computer on your network.
a. This can be done by opening Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn
Windows features on or off. Check the box for ‘Telnet Client’. ‘Telnet Server’ is not
required.
a. To register the Ataman software, open the Ataman TCP R.L. Services control panel. On
the main screen, click ‘Register’.
b. Enter the information provided by IQMS. If you do not have your license information,
please contact IQMS.
