a) An electric motor driven power screw moves a nut in horizontal C-564d
plane against a force of 75KN at a speed of 300mm/min. The
screw has a single start thread of 6mm pitch and 40mm major
diameter. The coefficient of friction at the square thread is 0.1.
Estimate the power of motor.
b) Design a helical compression spring for a maximum load of C-564e
1000N for a deflection of 25mm using the value of spring index
as 5. The maximum permissible shear stress for spring wire is
420 MPa and Modulus of rigidity is 84 KN/mm2. Take Wahl’s
correction factor K= (4C-1/4C-4)+(0.165/C).
c) Write strength equations for designing of screw and nut of a C-564d
screw jack.
