CULTURAL CENTER
ABSTRACT
Our views of cities are a mix of reality and truth, hype and perception usually filtered through
media representations. The overall culture of a place and the arts help define and shape identity,
perception and image within the city own terms. The drive to create rich sensory environments in
cities provides new opportunities for those working in the creative professions.

With the cities growing into urban sprawls and agglomerations, the need for a planned growth of
cultural and public spaces in the expanded city is often ignored. The commercial, residential and
other forms of workplaces take the front seat in these developments which are a result of real
estate driven projects away from the city centers. The cultural and public realm falls short
keeping pace with such developments.

Cultural Hub is an organization, building or complex that promotes culture and arts. The
structure would not only play a role of cultural center for the city but would generate the revenue,
as there are several local people and tourists visiting the city after state bifurcation, thus adding to
the economy of the city. To design a cultural hub bringing the heritage factor to the forefront,
while catering to the contemporary need of tourists. To learn & know the various facts related to
the cultural heritage & mythology of their city (specially at one place).

Our Andhra Pradesh government has made a proposal to come up as an artistic enclosure that
doesn’t just transform its precinct but also the neighborhood around. It’s a physical manifestation
of the technology along with the cultural aspects of the society in order to project a venue that
promotes its culture giving an opportunity to the youth to move ahead with time. The concept
revolves around lifting the user experience by gradually lifting the public areas which would
create layered public spaces from where people look on to each other and have mutual interactive
participation. So Ap gov. decided to plan a cultural center with in 10 acres at capital region
Amravati.

Through the observation of artistic and literature medium in Amravati and its surroundings,
artists increasing interest in displaying in their work at different places and states, other than in
native state. Reluctance for local exhibitions is being noticed, this is due to the lack of local
meeting place for artists and intellectuals, especially of those famous artists who succeeded in
imposing their names in the local arena, one of the reasons behind their success is preserving the
roots of culture. This bought the idea of creating cultural center in the capital region Amravati to
unite all the artists from the different districts in Andhra Pradesh and to promote local culture and
heritage.

The complex is planned in such a way that it would reflect the state diversity of the state’s
creativity, heritage, culture and civilization apart from serving as a complex for cultural exchange
between the state and rest of the world involving youth.
