1. Background/Purpose
Previously, when a field trouble related to the Controller occurred, defect identification was conducted on the basis
of the displayed error code or the symptom. In that case, the accuracy of defect identification was low, and wasted
time was spent to complete the repair. Also, some parts that were not actually defective were replaced wastefully
because of the possibility of defect.

iR-ADV C50xx series and iR-ADV C70xx/90xx series are provided with Controller self-diagnosis function that
allows service technicians to make temporary judgments about field troubles that are assumed to be caused by the
Controller or its peripheral PCB.

The Controller self-diagnosis function consists of two tools.

This Service Information is to inform the necessary information.

2. Expected Use Case

This function can be used when the host machine is in one of the following conditions.

Case A:The host machine does not boot. (The Control Panel is not displayed; the progress bar does not work, etc.)
In this case, use Boot System Error Diagnosis Tool.

Case B:The Main Controller PCB 1/2 or a related PCB (a child PCB such as SDRAM or TPM mounted on the Main
Controller PCB) is suspected to be defective.
In this case, use Controller System Error Diagnosis Tool.

3. Usage
Case A [Boot System Error Diagnosis Tool]
This tool automatically checks the Control Panel, Main Controller PCB 1, All-night Power Supply, and Non-all-night
Power Supply in the early stage of startup, and notifies the results by the number of light-out and blinking interval
of the lamp on the Control Panel. This tool is installed in the ROM of the Main Controller PCB 1. This tool is
therefore not affected by the firmware condition of MN-CNT. It can be used even when Controller System Error
Diagnosis Tool does not work.

The startup procedure is shown below.

1) Turn ON the Main Power Supply Switch while pressing the Control Panel Power Supply Switch.

2) Right after the Main Power Supply Lamp lights up once, it lights out instantly, and diagnosis starts.
(When the Main Power Supply Lamp lights out, you can release your finger from the Control Panel Switch.)

Case B [Controller System Error Diagnosis Tool]

This tool allows more detailed error diagnosis in a startup sequence after passing Boot System Error Diagnosis Tool.
This tool automatically checks the Main Controller PCB 1/2, child PCBs mounted on the Main Controller PCB 1/2,
and HDD, and displays the results on the Control Panel.
This tool is stored in the storage where HDD, Flash PCB, and other firmware are stored. Therefore, this tool cannot
be used when the tool has been deleted or when the storage where the tool is stored cannot be accessed.

The startup procedure is shown below.

1) Turn ON the Main Power Supply Switch while pressing the numeric keys "2" and "4" simultaneously.

2) Keep pressing the numeric keys (for approx. 20 seconds) until the following screen appears on the Control Panel.
