2019 KF Public Diplomacy Camp

August 18 (Sunday) – August 23 (Friday)

ABOUT THE KOREA FOUNDATION

The Korea Foundation (KF) is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Korean
Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Established in 1991 and designated as the Republic of
Korea’s official public diplomacy organization in 2016, the KF promotes mutual
understanding and friendship between the peoples of Korea and other nations
through a wide range of programs and activities, including supporting Korean
studies and Korean language programs, strengthening cultural and people-to-people
exchanges, and creating networks between Korean and foreign think tanks, thereby
enhancing Korea’s soft power on the world stage.

WHAT IS THE PUBLIC DIPLOMACY CAMP?

The Public Diplomacy Camp is an annual program hosted by the Korea Foundation
to promote mutual understanding and foster friendship among your people from all
over the world. It is designed to provide participants with an opportunity to share
cultural experiences, broaden their networks and work together to establish
collaborations among young leaders.

In 2016, for instance, we invited 55 people working in the field of cultural exchange
from the four Visegrad countries. (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) Last
year, as a follow-up program of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, we invited
young people who are interested in winter sports from Asian countries where such
sports are not widely practiced.

This year, as the atmosphere on the Korean peninsula has become more peaceful, the
camp targets young people who are interested in the peace movement. During the
week-long program, participants will familiarize themselves with the cultures of
different countries and discuss issues related to the peace movement. There will also
be various leisure activities and cultural excursions, allowing participants to have fun
with youths from other countries.
