This Indian Standard ( First Revision ) which is identical with ISO 8734 : 1 997 P
arallel pins, of hardened
steel and martensitic stainless steel ( Dowel pins )' issued by the international
Organization for Standardization
( iSO ) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the
Bolts, Nuts and
Fasteners Accessories Sectional Committee and approval of the Basic and Production
Engineering
Division Council.
This standard was originally published in 1 972. This revision of the standard has
been taken up to align
it with ISO 8734 : 1997 by adoption under dual numbering system.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as Indian S
tandard without
deviations. Certain terminology and conventions are, however, not identical to tho
se used in the Indian
Standards. Attention is drawn especially to the following:
