Introduction
Communication is a way or act of an individual to interact with other people. This is done
through verbal, writing, symbols and signs, and even non-verbal. So far, in way of
communicating in modern times, there is a so-called media or medium. Media is a way often
used to achieve communication. It is commonly referred to mass media, social media, print
media, photography, advertising, cinema, broadcasting, publishing and etc. Simply, it is a
collective tool of communication in which they are used to store and deliver information and
data. Nevertheless, in their frequent usage, a media can also reach its limit. As a result, many
people are affected especially the students. Such media without knowing its limitations can put
everyone at a disadvantage. In this research, the researchers aim to identify the different
limitations of media and how they affect the students especially the students in BS Computer
Engineering program.

Significance of the Study

For the students. This research will help the students to identify the limits of media in a
communication that might increase their knowledge extent.
For the facilitators. This research has handful of information that can be helpful as an additional
data for their teaching.
For the society. This research will also help the society to increase their knowledge extent about
media limitations when used in communication. This can prevent abuse or incorrect usage of
media when communicating with others.

Scope and limitations

The scope of this research is within the first year BS CpE program of CEAFA department
of Batangas State University only.
This research is limited only to 3 researchers, and 77 students of BS CpE program of BSU as the
subject.

Research Design (for methodology)

This research utilized quantitative method as for the design of the study.

Quantitative phase- The Quantitative phase of the study was aimed at determining the subjects'
(1st year CpE) knowledge about the limitations of medium in a communication and how it
affects them thoroughly. A descriptive approach was undertaken because the purpose was to
describe the subjects' knowledge regarding limitations of medium in communication with the
use of survey questionnaire.

Population and Samples

The study is conducted among the population of first year students of BS CpE which will be
considered as subjects. The subject quantity is 77 students, 43 from CpE 1101 and 34 from CpE
1102 with the researchers included respectively.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
` Medium or media is a widely used form of communication. It is created beyond the
advancement of technology. However, a medium or media used in a communications have its
own limitations. The main problem of this study is to determine the limitations of a medium in
communications to the first year students of BS Computer Engineering of Batangas State
University.

Specifically, this academic paper is aimed to investigate the following:

1. What are the limitations in the communication of first year students of BS Computer
Engineering?

2. How do these limitations affect the BS Computer Engineering of Batangas State University
in communicating with other people?

3. Is there any significant difference between the limitations of communication within the first
year students of BS Computer Engineering in Batangas State University and the limitations of
communication of the first year students of BS Computer Engineering to other people?
