CIRCULATION

1.0 PURPOSE
To establish the procedure for the destruction of remaining portions of the Bulk / Finished
samples received in QC for Testing.

2.0 SCOPE
This SOP is applicable to Bulk / Finished samples received for testing in QC.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 Officer Quality Operation (Bulk Section) is responsible for the destruction of these
remaining portion of the samples.
3.2 Head of Quality Operation is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the SOP
and training of all relevant personnel.

4.0 STORAGE & DUMPING OF SAMPLE


4.1 Solid Waste
After analysis remaining samples of bulk / finished good of solid (Tablets, Capsule,
Dry Powder) are transferred in to polyethylene bags having identification & net
weight. These waste bags are kept in to the designated container placed in waste
disposition area.
4.2 Liquid Waste
After analysis remaining samples of bulk and finished goods of liquids (Suspension,
Drops & Syrup) are collected in to the designated container.

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 For solid and liquid wastes enter net weight volume of the waste in the waste disposal
form along with material name and Officer Quality Operation signature.
5.2 Calculate the total net weight of the solid waste container once the container is filled
and get it signed by QC Manager or his nominated person.

5.3 Place the original waste disposal form in the chemical waste record binder located in
QC department.
5.4 Transfer the filled liquid and solid waste containers to the central well-ventilated
waste-holding facility of the company to be picked up by the contractor and forward a
signed copy of waste disposal sheet to the waste disposal coordinator.
5.5 As appropriate inform waste disposal coordinator to call the contractor to remove
liquid and solid waste containers from central waste-holding facility of Avicenna
premises to avoid recessive accumulation.
5.6 File a copy of the outward gate pass of the chemical waste or outward gate pass
reference number in the chemical waste record binder.
5.7 Obtain a letter or certificate from the contractor confirming the incineration or the
chemical treatment of the waste and file this certificate in the chemical waste record
binder to complete the waste disposal process.
