Reflections

I was glad that we had an assignment where I had to present because one of the main
reasons I joined the ISM program was to improve my presentation and public speaking skills.
Presenting in front of an audience has always been a weakness of mine and I was motivated to
perform well. I was motivated because my last speech was disastrous and I wanted to improve
myself through the process of performing and reflecting. This speech went well as I was more
prepared and I used the criticism from the last presentation to better my presentation. This
speech was much better than the last one, but there were also some areas where I can improve. I
need to make my slides flow as the transitions were choppy. I also need to make sure I don’t say
“umm” too much. By fixing these problems, I can better present and communicate my topic.

My interview with Mr. Neeraj Madan went great. I got an excellent perspective on the
field of Data Science. His experience of being a mentor makes him a prime candidate for
mentorship. On top of that, he works in a company which thrives on data. This way I will learn a
lot from shadowing him. His experience in the field will also help me gain a better
understanding of the field itself.

What could I have done better? / Goals for next

week​:

I need to improve my presentation skills based on the feedback I received during my

quick trip presentation. By doing this I can improve a skill that is important in any profession. I
also need to get more interviews because I need to finalize my mentor, and for that to happen, I
need to meet more people.

My goals for next week are as follows:

● Start working on trifold for Winter Showcase

● Contact more people
● Do more research by reading credible, informative articles
