Praxis Core Analysis

Exam Requirements – I must pass the praxis core exam to continue a higher degree in

my field of study. I must pass them in order to be admitted to either Nevada State College or

University of Nevada Las Vegas. The passing score for math is a score of 150. The passing score

of reading is a 156, and the passing score for writing is a 162. Math being the lowest score

required out of the three subjects.

Exam Preparation – I found myself practicing a lot more for the math test than I was for

the reading and writing tests. I used multiple websites to find different math practice test

combinations. As for reading and writing, the practice was very minimal, I tried going over

different forms of writing that I had used earlier in my other writing classes. I searched for

different papers that I had submitted in other classes and tried to look for similar errors in my

works. Overall, I believe that the math portion was the one that had my most attention than the

rest.

Exam Results – For the writing portion I got a score of 93%, which meant that I am very

likely to pass the actual praxis core exam for this subject. On the reading portion my score was a

94%, which also meant I am very likely to pass the praxis core for this subject. The hardest test

for me was math, my score was an 84%, but I found myself struggling with it. Some of the

answer choices were very similar and I was always asking myself if I was doing it correctly.

Future Exam Preparation – For future exam preparations I will be sure to try to study

harder. I will attempt to find similar websites that gives similar practice problems to those in the

practice praxis. I don’t think that I will really need as much practice for reading and writing, so I

will make sure that I put much of my thought process to the math portion. Another form of

practice that I am considering is tutoring as I am sure it will be a huge help when taking the

actual test. I also must make sure to memorize specific formulas and make sure I know how to

recognize what directions are asking me to look for.
