LEVEL: Intermediate-Advanced
TIME: 25 minutes
MATERIALS: One copy of the attached worksheet for each student; a timer
BEFORE CLASS: Learn how to form comparatives and superlatives in a sentence to describe
objects and people. First part of the worksheet (attached) is assigned
Ø The first few minutes will be used to cover questions that students may have on forming
comparatives, as well as covering the correct answers to the assigned first four assigned
quadrants of the worksheet (5 minutes)
Ø Then students will partner up with another student whom they haven’t spoken to much so
far in the class. They will do the bottom right hand quadrant and discuss questions
between them (5 minutes)
Ø Then students will work on the ‘Partner Work’ quadrant of the worksheet, where they
will compare characteristics, both similarities and differences, with each other (5
minutes)
Ø The student will then write a letter addressed to me introducing this person to me using
their differences and similarities, using comparatives and superlatives, transitions like “In
terms of…”, “In addition to…”, “Not only….but also…”, “In their culture…” etc. (5
minutes)
