Dear Professor Martinelli,

I hope this semester has been well so far. My name is Francesca Torralba. I am a first year student here
are Penn State Abington, and I am studying BioBehavioral Health. I have recently written an article (see
attached) about how a specific kind of peer pressure affects the academics of students. This article led me
to do some in depth research about the contributing factors to a student's stress. I want to further my
research by conducting an independent study on the academic pressures high school students face, and I
hope that you will partake in this journey with me. By doing so, you will be able to provide guidance to
my research and give your input where needed.

I have found that you are passionate in building student-teacher relationships, which I find quite
important as a student myself. I also noticed that you are an adviser for The Education Club. How is the
club doing? Is there any events being planned? I would leave to hear about what's going on, if that is
okay! Speaking of, if we were to work together, I would love to get some input from the members of your
club.

In regards to the study itself, I plan to begin this study the following Fall 2020 semester. In addition, the
estimated amount of credits I will be receiving from this research project is, of maximum, six credits.
Therefore, I plan to distribute my research throughout the two semesters. In addition, I plan to commit
two days per week on this study.

My goal from this study is to further gain knowledge in how to not only improve the livelihood of high
school students, but every student. I understand that you are a very busy woman-- and I completely
understand if you are unable to work with me-- but I believe that you will significantly benefit my
research. If possible, I would like to know if you feel the same as well as soon as April 10th of this year.
