Give at least 4 examples of each item.

● Caregiver interactions with children

○ The teacher is sitting on the floor with a group of 3 students and playing with the
students. She is encouraging them to put the ball through the tubes.
○ Student approaches teachers with a book. They sit down and read together. He is
focused on turning the pages.
○ “Did you change your diaper?” The student makes a face. The teacher begins
saying “pew” and the student begins to copy her.
○ The teacher is helping the student choose a train track that he would like to play
with.
● Caregiver encouraging social awareness/interaction between children
○ New students are coming into the classroom. One student is very shy and will not
let go of the teacher. The teacher already inside the classroom encourages
everyone to sing “hello ____ hello ____”
○ “You can go play with ___, they are also playing with the sensory table”
○ “You can go dance with everyone up there if you would like ___.” She sees the
student was not dancing and adds “do you see __ dancing? Go ___ Go”
○ “You and ___ can drive the truck around the table.”
● Caregiver using Guidance/discipline techniques
○ Student puts something into their mouth. The teacher says, “I can help you take
that out of your mouth.” The teacher walks over and helps the student.
○ Toddler throws toys across the room. “Hey ___, we are going to pick up the toys
you threw. We wouldn’t want them to break on us, we would be very sad.”
○ The teacher catches a toddler running after another student. She stops them in
their way and asks what is wrong. “Did she take that toy away?” the student nods
yes. “We can wait for one minute to get it back.” The student continues to want to
catch the other toddler. The teacher decides to grad him and says wait one minute.
○ “You are trying to reach, you can walk around and reach for it.” student goes
around. The teacher says, “Thank you”.
● Teacher promoting social/emotional awareness
○ The student hits another student. The student begins to cry. “Did that hurt ___?”
the student continues crying, the teacher looks over at the student who hit and
says “___ that hurt your friend, can you see he is red?” “That made him cry.” The
teacher then processed to ask the other child if they were okay.
○ “___ did you see __. He is standing on the block all by himself.”
○ A student begins to scream. He is trying to get a basket of toys from another
student. The teacher tells him that we have to be patient. The student ignores her
and begins to scream again. The teacher decided to hold him and together with,
they sing the balloon song. (It helps with their breathing in and out for frustration)
○ “___ we have to wait. I can tell you are frustrated but the train is being used right
now ``''We will have to wait.” She then begins singing a song.

● Overall evaluation
○ It was a crazy day inside the Sagebrush room today. The students are in transition
from going to the Willow room to the Sagebrush room. They are spending time
inside to get used to it. I feel that it might stress out the students already in there,
so they begin to cry more. The students aren’t so used to each other yet. I can tell
because they seem to make their little groups within the classroom. But it’s nice
seeing how the teachers are encouraging them to play with each other. They will
have them all in their next semester, so it will take them a while to get used to
everyone.
