Cover Letter

My experience in ENW 100 has helped me to become an overall better writer. It has

expanded my creativity and taught me valuable skills for any paper that I may have to write. The

variety of the assignments in the class forced me to write in different style, which was very

beneficial to my overall writing style. I enjoyed most aspects of the class as a whole. The small

steps that were taken with every assignment were very helpful in creating finished pieces. I felt

much more confident handing in my work after being shown how to edit properly.

The literacy narrative was the easiest assignment for me because it was simply a story.

Everyone has a story that they are passionate about and using a story that involved my own

feelings made it very enjoyable to write. The hardest part of that assignment was including

dialogue, I didn’t feel that it fit well into my essay. After putting dialogue in, I realized that it

made the story much easier to visualize and more emotional.

The rhetorical analysis was also an enjoyable assignment for me. I was very interested in

my topic and definitely learned many new things about it. The TED talk provided all of the

information I need to write my paper, which was much easier than looking for many different

sources. The use of ethos, pathos, and logos have showed up in several of my classes. Writing
this essay helped me to have a deeper understanding of these three topics, which has helped me

with other work.

The multimodal essay was probably the most difficult assignment for me in this class. I

have experience doing scientific research and writing papers with graphs and charts, but this one

was more difficult for me. It was not completely scientific, so I had a hard time separating it

from persuasion. Graphs and charts were also very difficult to find, and I struggled to add my

own data to the document. I found scholarly articles pretty easily, but popular sources were more

difficult to find. I also felt that it was difficult to reach the required length for this paper because

everything was closely related, making it difficult to avoid being repetitive. The website was also

difficult for me to make because I am not the best with technology.

I feel like all of the assignments helped to show my creativity. All of the writing

assignments were different, but my topics all related to each other. I was able to write about the

same thing in different ways and feel that this was very beneficial to my writing style. This class

has improved my writing skills and style greatly. For a student taking this class next year, I

would advise to come prepared to class with drafts. The workshopping in class is very helpful

and keeps you from waiting until the last minute to write your paper. I truly enjoyed the ENW

100 class. It helped me to improve my writing, which is useful in so many other ways. I

expanded my writing abilities and feel I am capable of writing much more effectively.
