Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

The activity I have planned for this lesson uses a website known as Kahoot. This site allows teachers and
students to create their own quizzes by adding text and images. You are able to use Kahoot for any subject
you want by creating the quizzes from scratch. This way teachers are able to review any material they need
with their students. This this user-friendly tool can be accessed through any mobile device or computer with
internet. Therefore, parents and students can easily access it from home for extra practice if needed. Kahoot
is a great tool to use within the classroom with your students.

Kahoot is a great tool to use for many different learners within your classroom. Since you are able to create
quizzes from scratch, teachers have the ability to create quizzes to fit any student’s needs. This can help
students who struggle in certain areas of a subject to gain the extra help they need to succeed. Teachers can
use this tool to help many students with disability by tracking their quiz scores to know where each student
stands with understanding the material being taught. This website allows every student to learn in the best
way for them.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Before I introduce the Kahoot activity, my students will be learning all about the 8 phases of the moon and
the effects the moon has on the Earth. After my students participate in many activities in learning about the
sun, moon, and earth, I will use the student response activity to assess what they have learned. I will
introduce the Kahoot activity as a review to see what my students have learned and what they still need help
understanding. The quiz will be led by the teacher in the front of the classroom and the students will access
the quiz on the tablet provided for them. Before starting the quiz, I will explain to my students how the
website works and make sure everyone understands what to do.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

During the student response activity, each of my students will have a tablet that will allow them to login to
the website to participate. During the quiz, the students will have a certain amount of time to answer each of
the 8 questions. Since Kahoot times the questions for you, I will walk around the class making sure everyone
is on task and doesn’t need help. After every question, the right answer will be revealed, allowing the
students to see what they get right and wrong throughout the quiz. This way the students can learn from
their mistakes throughout the activity. This activity will take about 10 minutes.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
The correct answers will be revealed after every question on the screen for the all students to see. This allows
the students to learn what mistakes they made and what the correct answer is.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After we finish the Kahoot quiz, I will be able to see what each of my students made. This will allow me to see
what my students understand and what they still need help on. I will then have a class discussion with my
class about the most missed questions on the quiz. During the discussion, I will help my students understand
why they missed the material they did and what the correct answer is.
How will the data be used?
The data will tell me if my students are understanding the material being taught in class or not. This
information will only be shared with the teacher and not used for a grade. The main purpose of this data is to
let the teacher know who is struggling with learning the material and what areas they need to work on.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
With this activity, I am hoping to bring a new and fun way to review material into my classroom. From the
lesson, I will be able to see how my students like it and if it works well in my class. If it does work well, I will be
able to use this tool to create many more lessons and activities for my students in the future. If this toll does
not work out for my class, it gives me the opportunity to explore new tools that I can use instead. I hope my
students enjoy the activity and they learn from it.
Reflective Practice:
I think that this student response and assessment tool is a great tool to use in my classroom. The lesson
allows the teacher to review material being learned with their students. However, I could also use this tool to

introduce new material with my class. Allowing them to take a Kahoot quiz before learning the material can
show me what they already know. I can also use this data to compare to a later Kahoot quiz to see how much
they have learned and grown throughout the unit. Finding different ways to use Kahoot can allow my
students to learn in different ways and methods.
