Ami Torgeman

Ami is 32 years old, he is married to Yael and father to Jonathan, Liam and Mia. Ami
joined the IDF in 2005, and served in the Orev Special Forces Unit of the Givati
Brigade.

In 2007, during operational activity in the Gaza region, Ami’s team was attacked by
terrorists, who deployed an IED in addition to massive shooting. During this
incident, many were injured, and one soldier died due to his extensive injuries. Ami
was airlifted to Soroka Medical Center in Negev, where he was operated on. Ami
underwent 10 months of rehabilitation. Unfortunately, he never gained full function
in his left arm.

Ami and his family live in Natanya and he works as a project manager in a
construction company.
Remo Bargig

Remo is 32 years old, lives in Ashdod. He joined the IDF in 2009 and served in an
anti-terror unit of the Israeli Boarder Police. He was a commander and served for a
five years.

In 2011, Remo’s unit was called to rescue and evacuate civilians who were trapped
in riots in Temple Mount. During this operation Remo’s team was attacked with
petrol bombs and massive rocks. Remo was struck in the face by a rock and he
suffered injuries that continue today. He has issues with the opening of his jaw, and
damage to his right eye. It is difficult for Remo to eat and chew food, and he suffers
severe headaches and vision problems.

Remo holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in business management and


mechanical engineering. He works for Ashdod Municipality.
Ofir Saada

Ofir is 32 years old, married to Sharon and father to Tamar (2).

Ofir joined the IDF in 2006, and served in the Oketz Unit, an independent canine
special forces unit of the Israel Defense Forces for four years. In 2014, during the
Tzuk Eitan operation, Ofir and his canine were assisting the Palchan Unit to take
over a suspected terrorist’s house. As they approached the house, a massive IED
located in an underground tunnel was activated and resulted in injuries to 20
soldiers and four of them were killed. Several fragments ripped through Ofir’s body
and he was air lifted to Tel Hashomer Hospital, where he was rehabbed for 30 days.

Ofir and his family live in the Maor settlement in north-central Israel. Ofir holds a
BA in accounting and business management and works for his family business of
flower farming.
Shani Kotev

Shani is 40 years old, married to Christina and father to Eliya (10), Michael (5) and
Hodaya (3). They all live in Kibbutz Almog.

Shani joined the IDF in 2000 and served in the 202 Battalion of the Paratroopers
Brigade. He served for a total of 2.5 years. In 2002, a group of 50 armed Hamas
terrorists took over the Church of the Nativity and held 46 ministers and 200 civilians
as hostages. Shani’s unit was operating in the Beit Lechem area and Shani suffered
several gunshot wounds in both of his arms. He was evacuated to Tel Hashomer
Hospital where he was required to rehabbed for a total of five months. His injuries
left him with permanent damage - his right palm is completely paralyzed, and parts
of his left arm are numb.

Shani holds a BA from the Hebrew University and was trained as a tour guide. He
currently works as a tour guide for the Ministry of Tourism.
Haim Yakar
Haim is 34 years old, lives in Haifa and married to Ori.

In 2004, Haim joined the IDF. He served in the navy, and then was transferred to
Haruv Reconnaissance Unit under the Kfir Brigade.

In 2006, Haim’s team was in Nablus to capture a wanted terrorist. Haim’s team was
ambushed by terrorists, who activated an IED. Due to the blast, Haim’s leg was
fractured and shrapnel penetrated multiple areas in his body, including his eyes.
Under heavy fire Haim was evacuated to Tel Hashomer Hospital. He required 12
months of rehabilitation and today he still suffers from pain and mobility issues in
his right leg.

Haim studies electrical engineering and works for Mellanox Technologies.


Tamir Movshovitz
Tamir is 30 years old. He is married to Hadas and father to Amichay (3.5) and Lavie
(11 months).

Tamir joined the IDF in 2009 and served in the 202 Battalion of the Paratroopers
Brigade. In 2014, a week after he gotten married, during operational activity near
the Syrian boarder, an IED hit Tamir’s team and injured four soldiers. Tamir was
wounded when shrapnel struck his legs. Tamir was evacuated to Rambam Hospital in
Haifa and was required to rehabbed for two years.

Following his injury, Tamir was recruited back to the army and served as an officer in
the Intelligence Corps for two years. He now works for Brothers for Life as the
manager of the Medical Project.
Ohad Abraham

Ohad is 43 years old. He is married to Yael and they have four children
Nevo (15), Itamar (12), Alma (9) and Alona (6).

Ohad joined the IDF in 1995 and served for 2.5 years. He was a commander in the
elite Egoz Unit of the Golani Brigade. In 1997, during operational activity in
Lebanon, Ohad stepped on a landmine, which also activated mortar bombs. The
landmine immediately dismembered his left foot, and severely damaged his right
arm. Ohad was airlifted to Rambam Hospital in Haifa and then rehabilitated
in Tel Hashomer Hospital. After his recovery, Ohad studied mathematics and
software engineering at Bar Ilan University.

Ohad and his family live in K’far Saba. He works as a software engineer for
Solaredge, a company in the Photovoltaics field.
