DERMATITIS
A. Understanding
Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin (epidermis and dermis) in response to exogenous and / or
endogenous factors, which cause lesions in the form of polymorphic efflorescence, in the form of
erythema, edema, papules, vesicles, squama, or lichenification (Hanifati, Menaldi. 2014)

1. Avoiding exposure to substances that cause irritation or allergic skin. Patients are encouraged to find
out what substances cause contact dermatitis.
2. Stop using products that contain irritants or allergens.
3. Using skin moisturizer. This is done to reduce the risk of dry skin and protect the skin.
4. Compress contact dermatitis area with cold compresses. Compress can be done with a damp cloth
that can relieve itching.
5. Avoid scratching the area of dermatitis. In addition, sufferers need to cut their nails if they can't stop
scratching.
6. Protect hands. Rinse and dry hands when washing hands, and use gloves to protect it.
E. Kinds of dermatitis
Usually, this condition begins in infancy where there is a red rash and itching sensation on the skin to
bend, such as the elbow, behind the knee, and in the front area of the neck.
2. Contact dermatitis
Contact dermatitis is a red and itchy rash that is caused by direct contact with a substance or an allergic
reaction to it. The rash is not contagious or life threatening, but can be very uncomfortable.
3. Seborrheic dermatitis
The effects of this type of dermatitis cause scaly patches of skin, reddened skin, and even stubborn
dandruff. Typically, seborrheic dermatitis affects areas of oily skin, such as the face, upper chest, and
back.
4. Stasis dermatitis
This type of dermatitis is also often referred to as dermatitis gravity, venous eczema, and venous stasis
dermatitis. Stasis dermatitis most often occurs in the lower leg because the leg vein has a one-way valve
which plays an important role in blood circulation.
