Prof (Dr.) J.S Gujral DESCRIPTION: The quality of any education system is based on the quality of teachers. Pedagogy is an art of teaching and effective pedagogies involve a wide range of techniques which focuses on higher order of thinking and satisfies diverse needs of range of learners. There is no single universal approach suitable for all situations, and effective teachers use various strategies to support intellectual engagement. Effective pedagogy techniques enable teachers to observe and assess students in context of class room situations which increases the prospects of effective learning. Currently there exists a wide range of pedagogical option designed with appropriate techniques for effective learning outcomes. In this context KCC Institute of Legal and Higher Education organized a one week Faculty Development “EMERGING TRENDS IN TEACHING PEDAGOGY”, under the patronage of KCC group from 25th-29th November 2019. DAY 1: 25th November 2019 Inaugural Session The inaugural session of the 2nd FDP of KCCILHE on “Emerging Trends in Teaching Pedagogy” was honored by Prof. (Dr.) K.K Aggarwal, Chairman NBA and the guest speaker for the session was Prof. (Dr.) J.S Gujral, Ex- Director, KIHEAT. The guests were given a warm welcome by felicitating them with a plant sapling. Prof (Dr.) Bhavna Agarwal Director, KCCILHE gave an enlightening welcome speech that marked as the beginning of the day. The gathering was then uplifted by the motivating words of Dr. Gujral Sir who focused on the attitude and the skills that are required for being an efficient teacher. Later, Dr. Aggarwal illuminated the audience by acknowledging different ways in which a management teacher should deal with the daily problems. He suggested that management is all about finding the best solutions among the variety of solutions available to a problem because a single problem can have different solution according to the day, time and place. The inaugural session was concluded by giving mementos to the guests of the day and lunch for all the guest and dignitaries. Lecture Session 1 TOPIC: Innovation in Management Teaching GUEST SPEAKER: Prof (Dr.) J. S. Gujral, Ex- Director KIHEAT The session happened after the lunch from 2 PM onwards and went till 3:30 PM, the speaker began his session with some of the celebrated principles in Management like five principles by Adam Smith and Fayol's 14 Principles , some of which were discussed in details like Division of Work – When employees are specialized, output can increase because they become increasingly skilled and efficient. Unity of Command – Employees should have only one direct supervisor. Unity of Direction – Teams with the same objective should be working under the direction of one, using one plan. This will ensure that action is properly coordinated. Subordination of Individual Interests to the General Interest – The interests of one employee should not be allowed to become more important than those of the group. He had detailed discussion on the principle with the attendees, especially Scalar Chain whereby Employees should be aware of where they stand in the organization's hierarchy, or chain of command. In order to increase efficiency of an organization he taught the importance of working together collectively on any assignment. He emphasized on number of Areas like the case studies, projects, presentation, interactive session, industry interface, activities like debate, group discussion, just a minute etc. where robust involvement of the students’ needs to be incorporated to increase their practical knowledge. The session was a great learning lesson for the faculties.

Lecture Session 1 TOPIC: Developing and Nurturing the Case Study: A Guide on How to Write a Case Study GUEST SPEAKER: Prof (Dr.) Vijesh Jain, Dean MDP, Entrepreneurship and Consulting, IMS Ghaziabad. The second session by Dr. Vijesh Jain began with faculties putting up queries from the previous session, in particular on how to engage a large class and break the monotony and make them listen to you. There were many suggestions that were offered by the speaker. Eventually he discussed his case study on Haldirams and had a bidirectional discussion as to how as a faculty this case study can be thrown open to students to help them understand various concepts. He helped one to see it as an overarching case study, one that can be used to explain various dimension of management, like marketing, family business, international Business, Economics, International Human Resource etc. It was an extremely interactive session which had the speaker also taking a learning from the participants. In the end the Guest Speaker was felicitated with a memento as a token of appreciation.
