1. ESTRUCTURAS
Decir tu nombre
My name is + nombre → My name is María
Decir tu edad
I am + “número que indique tu edad” + years-old → I am 28 years-old
2. PREGUNTAS
Para poder mantener una conversación con alguien, debemos saber qué preguntas hacer
para obtener toda la información anterior. Las preguntas a estas respuestas son las
siguientes:
→ Si al preguntar nos contestan con el país y queremos saber la ciudad, podemos decir:
Where in + país + do you live?
What do you do? / What do you do for a living? (¿a qué te dedicas?)
What do you do? → I am a journalist
What do you do for a living? → I work as a journalist
3. AÑADIR INFORMACIÓN
Podemos añadir información a una oración mediante los conectores “and” y “but”.
“And” equivale a la conjunción copulativa “y /e” en español y se utiliza para dar más
información sobre algo.
I speak Italian and German (hablo italiano y alemán)
I speak Spanish and English (hablo español e inglés)
4. PRESENTARSE
A continuación, ponemos algunos ejemplos:

Usos comunes de to be
To be se usa en muchos contextos en los que en español se usaría ser, estar y
incluso tener. Veamos algunos de los contextos en los que se usa to be.

La hora y la fecha
To be se usa para dar la hora y la fecha. Para dar la hora en inglés, siempre se ocupa la
tercera persona del singular (is, was).
It is three o’clock.

Ubicaciones
El verbo to be se usa como verbo auxiliar en varios tiempos verbales, tales como los que
se ven en la tabla. Nota: La tabla muestra el verbo to be usado como verbo auxiliar con el
verbo principal to go (ir).

Ordinal Numbers
Los números ordinales
a abreviatura de los números ordinales se forma con el número en cifra seguido por las últimas
dos letras de la palabra completa. Las decenas, millares y el millón se unen con un guión o “and”,
al igual que los números cardinales.

Estos sustantivos pueden tener la forma singular y plural, cuando están en su forma plural
generalmente se le añade la s al final. Además, pueden ser acompañadas por números, el
artículo a/an, el cuantificador many, los adjetivos few y a few. Por ejemplo:

Estos sustantivos pueden ser acompañados por el cuantificador much, el adjetivo little y a
little bit of. Por ejemplo:
Normalmente se sitúan detrás del verbo principal, que suele ser el verbo "to be" (verbo
estar, ser) en todas sus formas verbales.
Se coloca delante de sustantivos para indicar que algo está en sitios de una habitación
como el techo o la pared, así como para indicar que alguien está en el transporte público
o en el piso de un edificio.
