Business Ethics Task 1:

Organizational Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility

A) Policies:

a. TechFite will be involved with the community, we will be hosting monthly event

to bring the town together, it will put a good light on the company and giving

back to the failing community. We will use the excess bonuses that is being paid

out to executives to donate to a local charity from the choice of the employees.
i. Rational – To show faith in their employees and giving back to the a

struggling community to rebuild

b. TechFite will give all employees that work more than 25 hour a week full-time

employment status. With being full time, they will be offered up for merit

increase in salary also RSU( reserve stock units) stock that will be given out on a

performance bases.

i. To help rebuild a struggling community, they might not getting 40 hours

but they will still have growth with the company and still support their

families

c. TechFite will offer full benefits( medical, vision, PTO) to all employees current

employees, all future employees will be on a 90 day probation period before

employees’ benefits will take effect.

i. To embrace the culture of the company with the current and new

employees. It will keep their present competitive with offering fulltime

benefits even though they are unable to give 40 hours a week to all

employees.

B) Legal standard is based on written law, ethical standards are human principles, something

can be legal but not ethical.

C) Analyze the ethical issues at stake

a. Claiming to caring about the community

b. Excesses bonuses to executives

c. Claim to giving back to community

d. Wanting to rebuild the community


D) the purpose of the ethics officer.

a. An Ethics Officer is responsible for to spread the ideal of the company by sharing

the mission, vision, goals and values. If any of these change it is the ethical officer

to update and distribute to the company.

E) Model of Corporate Social Responsibility

a. The first model is economic, this model benefits some and burden others. This

model is when you stand where the money is coming from not with the

employees.

i. Environmentally, they should create a green Initiative to recycle to reduce

the waste from the company and utilized resources and productivity to the

most efficient levels

ii. Socially, they need to use socially responsible practices, to cause

promotion and activity within the community. They can achieve this by

donating time to help the homeless, paint houses, clean up the park

iii. Ethically, they should keep as much money within the community to show

good faith they are they for them and rejuvenate the town. Do this by

staying true to their decision to keep everyone full time, not reduce

benefits.

b. A second model is a Philanthropic which the business is free to contribute

resources to the community and improving the quality of life. TechFite would

donate to charities on their own or with the support from their employees as well.
i. Environmentally, they use recycled materials whenever possible( buying

recycled paper for the copier, using hardware until end of life).

ii. Socially, it will help with their image if they stay true to their policies to

help grow the community as well as the company. If they don’t it will put

a black eye on them.

iii. Ethically, they can stay true to their promise, to promote growth for the

community. Keeping their promise of giving enough hours, keeping

employees on fulltime status.

c. A third is legal model, society code of right and wrong, must following the rules.

TechFite can do right by the communities law and standard and exist within the

guidelines.

i. Environmentally, they can disposal of material in the correct manner,

recycle material whenever possible.

ii. Socially, follow all work labor laws for the state and county, giving them

enough hours to support their family. Staying true to their community

involvement and following all law.

iii. Ethically, follow all policies that TechFite has put into place to support

their full time employees. Staying true to their vision and making the

community better not be just about the dollar
