Plan & Approach for Migration of Application/Data to SDC

For Migration of Application/Data to State Data Centre the below manpower will be deployed:

The following are the steps followed for Migration of Application/Data to State Data
Centre.

1. Identify applications to be migrated.

The applications which are to be migrated will be identified and the complete
build code along with upload folder if any will be backed up and copied to a
external drive and the same will be copied and configured in the servers allotted
in State Data Center.

2. Identify the external interfaces to which the applications are connected.

The external interfaces in the application will be identified and the

communication between the external sources will be checked and if any
authorizations required (viz. white listing of IP Address) will be address and
resolved.

3. Identify the databases to be migrated.

 The databases which are to be migrated will be identified and the databases will
be fully backed up and the backup dump will be copied in the new servers at
State Data Centre. After copying of the databases they will be restored.

4. Testing of the Application after hosting in State Data Centre

After completion of hosting of application and restoration of databases in the

servers at State Data Centre the application will be testing for any issues.

Project Scope

• We are assisting our client with the build out a new data center. As part of
that effort all tier 1 enterprise applications and supporting infrastructure
services will need to migrate to the new data center.

Specified Task
• Move all tier 1 enterprise and infrastructure application to the new data
center.

Migration Options

1) Forklift

• Physically move servers from the old to the new location. (High Risk,
Moderate Cost)

2) Build New

• Install newly purchased hardware in the new DC, install applications, migrate
data over a WAN connection. As available, leverage planned new system
implementation and hardware refresh projects to fund new equipment
purchases. (Low Risk, High Cost)

3) Virtualized environment
• Convert physical servers to virtual, and then move the virtual servers to the
new location over a WAN connection. (Low Risk, Moderate Cost, Does not
work for some systems)

4) Serial Number Swap

• Rent servers that exactly match the configuration of existing servers and
place in the new DC. Install applications on rented equipment, migrate data
over a WAN connection. Return original equipment to rental agency. Swap
ownership and maintenance agreements between original and rented
equipment. (Low Risk, Moderate Cost)
