Task 3

Write a Lesson Reflection using this Form for Every Lesson that you Teach (CLOs 1-6)
You are expected to use support from the academic literature to enhance your reflections.
(N.B. 10 lessons – 3 peer reviewed and 7 MST/MCT are recommended in total)
Unit: living world Sabha Hamad
Lesson: What does a
Student teacher
seed need to grow?

Ms. Zuleika Mohammed Bin Khaled

MST School

Class 3 Date November 1, 2019

Select
What standards or LOs were being addressed in the lesson?
Students will be able to review of a fair test the step of the science method.

How did you cater for learners with special needs, and for differentiation?
I divide the students into three centers:

Center 1: Matching
In this center, I putting in the middle of the table a set of cards include all the vocabularies of the
lesson and a set of cards include pictures. the students must first read the word then try to match it
with the correct picture.
Canter 2: Questions card
In this center, I putting in the middle of the table a set of cards include all the questions of the
lesson. each of the students must first take one card and write their name on the card then start to
read the questions and answer it by writing down on the card.
Canter 3: Writing a hypothesis
In this center, I putting a set of cards in the middle of the table. Each student will work
individually in this center by taking one card and writing his name on the card then the teacher
asks the student to write an own hypothesis.
At the end of lesson, I give all students an exit ticket and ask them to answer all the questions
related to the lesson.
How did you use positive reinforcement? Methods? For what? While students were activity, I used
positive words, like good, excellent and good work.

How did you sequence or scaffold activities so that they built gradually towards the learning
objectives? I used the smartboard to display all the lessons for students, then moved to the
students to three different centers to review all the information that they gained. In the end, the
students were able to remember all the information they studied.
Overall aim and context of the lesson (that is, describe the lesson’s place in the unit of work. What
did students need to know before today’s LOs were addressed? What topic comes next and how
did today’s lesson prepare students for that?)

The unit was about the living world. Students should know the scientific methods. Students in
this lesson will learn all the scientific methods. For the next lesson, students will learn about
different plants.

Describe
Who is the lesson for? The lesson was for third-grade boys and girls.
Where did the lesson take place? The lesson was explained in the science classroom.
What were you aiming to achieve in your lesson? I was aiming to ensure that students understood
the information and vocabulary that they learned during these three lessons and explained to
students the way in which a fair test is performed, by reminding them of the steps of scientific
methods.
What experiences did you provide to the students to help them to achieve your aims for them?
Show students the scientific methods through using the smart board and show them a video.

Analyze
Were students excited, always occupied, and remained on task during the lesson? The students
were very enjoyed and hard-working while they were active. The students remembered the
important vocabulary they learned, but it was difficult for students to write the hypothesis.
Why do you think the students responded the way that they did? I think students have had
difficulty remembering the meaning of some words. According to the theory, Brunner's links so
using pictures help students learn the meaning of words.
How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding? I asked students about
the last three lessons hypothesis, Vocabulary, and experiment.
Appraise
Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective. It was a great and very useful
experience. I learned from this experience that using some tools that help students understand the
lessons and contribute to facilitating some vocabulary for students so that they do not have
difficulty in absorbing these tools, for example the use of smart board, video and pictures.

Did your lesson meet your teaching goals? Use your students’ performance on the end of lesson
assessment as support (Give proof in your portfolio) Yes, the lesson has achieved my goals as
students at the end of the lesson have learned how to take a fair test as well as the steps that they
must use to take a fair test.

Transform
How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future? In the future, I can enhance
student learning for this lesson, by conducting a fair test in front of students in the laboratory
where students will be able to observe all steps directly.
What are the implications for your professional practice of helping students to enhance their
learning in this particular way? (i.e. what skill will you have to develop or learn? What
professional development will you have to undertake?) Yes, the lesson has achieved my goals as
students at the end of the lesson have learned how to take a fair test as well as the steps that they
must use to take a fair test.
