Proposal for setting up School’s Drama Club

Introduction
The survey done by the Student Union indicates that 70% of our school students are very
interested in drama. Apart from this, the Education Bureau has transformed their standard
recently. Not only does it focus on students’ academic results, but also it places much
emphasis on their Arts accomplishment. In response to this, school should consider setting
up a Drama Club to fulfill students’ strong desire and keep up-to-date with changes.

Aim of the club

The Drama Club will dedicate to promote drama education in our school and provide variety
performances for students. Students are given a great deal of golden opportunities to realize
their talents. Moreover, the club aims to teach them how to appreciate dramatic literature and
its techniques, and also help students to attain a better mastery of language.

Benefits
Setting up the Drama Club admittedly does good to our students and helps to nurture
well-rounded individuals. By adding the Drama Club, school can cater to the great diversity
of students’ interests. Each club requires many organizations. This certainly provides a
chance for students to enhance their leadership skills and co-operation spirits, since they
need to work hand in hand to run the club, deal with every problems of the club and design
plenty of activities. Their self-confidence and poise can also be developed. By participating
in Drama Club, students can obtain ‘Other Leaning Experience’ which is vitally important to
them in HKDSE curriculum. All in all, the establishment of the Drama Club can increase our
school students’ competitiveness and gain glory for the school.

Activities
The club will provide an array of activities. For example, it will hold a drama class for
students to learn the technique of drama and create their own production. They are also be
given a chance to perform their show in the school hall for all students. Besides, the club will
lead students of each grade to the theatre to appreciate different kinds of dramatic literature.
In addition, it will hold a “Best Script Competition” and invite renowned playwright, stage
director as well as actors to give talks so as to let students have an insight into drama. All of
these activities would certainly be beneficial to our students.

Conclusion
There have been widespread calls for setting up a Drama Club and it will certainly bring
myriads of advantages to both students and school. We sincerely hope that our proposal will
be kindly considered and approved.
