Measurements
To fit baby; 6 – 12 months
To fit chest size: 60 cm (24 inch)
Length: 26 cm (10¼ inches)
Materials
King Cole Big Value Chunky
Shade: 551 Cream, 100 g
A pair of 6½ mm (US 10½) knitting needles
A 5 mm (H) crochet hook
Button (optional)
Tension / Gauge
12 sts and 16 rows to 10 cm (4 inches)
measured over st.st. using 6½ mm needles
12 sts and 22 rows to 10 cm (4 inches)
measured over garter stitch using 6½ mm needles
Pattern notes
There is no need for a buttonhole as the crochet edging provides the loop for the
button. If you do not want to crochet around the edge, then add a ribbon tie.
To knit vest
Back
Using 6½ mm (US 10½) needles, cast on 68 stitches.
Work 4 rows in garter stitch.
Next row: Knit
Next row: K4, p to last 4 sts, k4.
Continue in stocking stitch keeping 4 sts in garter stitch at both edges until work
measures 19 cm (7½ inches) from beginning, ending after a wrong side row.
Divide for Armholes
Next row: K16, cast off 3 sts, k30, cast off 3 sts, k16.
Now complete the fronts and back separately.

Left Front
Armhole and V-neck shaping
Continue in garter stitch (every row knit).
1st row (WS): Knit to end. (16 sts)
2nd row: Knit to end.
3rd row: K4, sl1, k1, psso, knit to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2.
4th row: Knit to end.
5th row: Knit to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2.
6th row: Knit to end.
Continue to decrease in this way repeating rows 3, 4, 5 and 6 until 8 stitches
remain. Now continue to decrease at front edge only until 6 stitches remain.
Work even until armhole measures 7 cm (2¾ inches) ending after a wrong side
row. Cast off all stitches.

Back
Armhole shaping:
With wrong side facing, join yarn.
Continue in garter stitch (every row knit).
1st row (WS): Knit to end. (30 stitches)
2nd row: Knit to end.
3rd row (WS): K2, sl1, k1, psso, knit to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2.
4th row: Knit to end.
Continue to decrease in this way repeating rows 3 and 4 until 22 stitches remain.
Work even until armhole measures 7 cm (2¾ inches) ending after a wrong side
row. Cast off all stitches.
Right Front
Armhole and V-neck shaping
With wrong side facing, join yarn.
Continue in garter stitch (every row knit).
1st row (WS): Knit to end. (16 sts)
2nd row: Knit to end.
3rd row: K2, sl1, k1, psso, knit to last 6 sts, k2tog, k4.
4th row: Knit to end.
5th row: K2, sl1, k1, psso, knit to end.
6th row: Knit to end.
Continue to decrease in this way repeating rows 3, 4, 5 and 6 until 8 stitches
remain. Now continue to decrease at front edge only until 6 stitches remain.
Work even until armhole measures 7 cm (2¾ inches) ending after a wrong side
row. Cast off all stitches.

To make up / Finishing
Sew shoulder seams. Crochet one round of
single crochet around edges. Weave in loose
ends. Attach ribbon tie or add button.
