4.2 Activity Students perform Activity 2”The big difference” by group and follow the given procedures carefully.

20 minutes
Divide the whole class into 5 groups let students perform activity Activity 2 The big difference on pages 195-
196 in the Learner's Manual. Let the students answer Activity 2 The big difference on pages 195-196 in the
Learner's Manual and report their answers. Each group will present the output of the activity through reporting.
Criteria for the presentation of the activity 10 pts - maximum participation of the members of the group -all the
answers of the activity are correct- publish the result on time 8 pts- one or two members of the group did not
participate -one answer is mistake - publish the result 5 minutes late 5 pts.-three or more members in the
group did not participate - two answers in the activity are wrong - publish the result 8 minutes late

Matter can be electrically charged in one of two ways: positive or negative. Protons carries one unit
of positive charge, the electron carries one unit of negative charge and the neutron has no charge-
it’s neutral. The atom itself has no charge. It’s neutral. Protons and neutrons are located inside the
nucleus, a dense central core in the middle of an atom, while the electrons are located outside the
4.4 Abstraction nucleus.

8 minutes

Students visually compared the masses of the three subatomic. Protons and neutrons are massive
indeed.Electrons are very much lighter than the protons and neutrons,to the point that its mass does not
4.5 Application significantly contribute to the mass of the entire atom. In,effect the mass of the electron is negligible. The
massive part of the atom, then comes from the masses of the protons and neutrons.Collectively, the protons and
neutrons are called nucleons. The nucleons, tightly packed together, form the nucleus in the center of the
atom. Thus most of the mass of the atom is contained in its nucleus.
