NARRATIVE REPORT ON INSET (Second Day)

October 22, 2019

I. INTRODUCTION

An Inset day, originally an acronym for In-Service Training day, also known as a TD
Day (Teacher Development Day) or PD Day (Professional Development Day), and
sometimes known as a Baker day, is one of a series of five days in most English schools
on which school sessions are not run and the pupils do not attend school but the staff are
required to attend for training or to complete administrative tasks. Teachers can catch up
with work and also have the opportunity to train for any new technology or new ways of
doing things within the school.

This in-service training really helps teachers to grow professionally and widen their
knowledge in different topics related in teaching and management. This training focuses on
the presentation of SIP (School Improvement Plan), ORA OHRA (Omnibus Rules on
Appointment and other Human Resource Actions) and Regional Child Protection Policy
and Anti-Bullying Manual for them to have proper orientation.

II. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

The training started by a prayer led by Mrs. Hilda P. Balmes followed by food for
thoughts of Mrs. Bernaliza M. Macalalad. Our Principal, Mrs. Elma C. Concepcion gave her
opening remarks and then our energizer.

Our school principal presented our school SIP (School Improvement Plan) to the
whole teachers. She gave every details of what’s inside and compose of our SIP. Our SIP
worked by our school planning team. This is a three (3) year work plan that follows three
important procedure which was the access, quality and governance. She also discussed

the main source of MOOE (Maintenance and other Operating Expenses) and how it can
generate and use.

After the first topic, all participants got their break and proceed to the next topic
which was all about ORA-OHRA. This ORA-OHRA (Omnibus Rules on Appointment and
Other Human Resource Actions. This topic really helps all teachers for our status as a
teacher and government employee. Our principal gave all the necessary information in
every detail of our status and all duties and responsibilities. She also discussed ranking
and promotion.

Lastly, she discussed the Regional Child Protection Policy and Anti-Bullying Manual
for us to be aware and properly handle every problem and situation related to it. She gave
and explain all laws and details about certain problems on our pupils and teachers. She
taught us properly on how to handle every case and how to react on it. After all the
discussion and topics, she gave every teachers to ask whether they have questions and
clarifications.

The teachers were all energetic on the presentation of their group.

IV. CONCLUSION

In-service training really helps teachers to grow professionally and widen their
knowledge in different topics related in teaching and management. SIP (School
Improvement Plan), ORA OHRA (Omnibus Rules on Appointment and other Human
Resource Actions) and Regional Child Protection Policy and Anti-Bullying Manual are
really helpful for all teachers to become aware in every important aspect of teaching and
learning process.

October 25, 2019 - Friday

I. INTRODUCTION

INSET Day, originally an acronym for In-Service Training day, also known as a TD
Day (Teacher Development Day) or PD Day (Professional Development Day) is one of a
series of five days in most schools on which school sessions are not run and the pupils do
not attend school but the staff are required to attend for training or to complete administrative
tasks. Teachers can catch up with work and also have the opportunity to train for any new
technology or new ways of doing things within the school.

This fifth day of training focuses on the Assessment of Programs and Projects in
school, Assessment of Teachers Performance based on their E-SAT, ICT Enhancement and
Gender Mainstreaming and Evaluation Framework (GMEF).

II. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

The training started by a prayer led by Ms. Kristine Dianne M. Carandang followed by
food for thoughts of Mrs. Maria Sevilla A. Ang. Then checking of attendance and an
energizer facilitate by Group 5.

Our school principal presented the school’s status of programs and projects. She
presented 19 programs and projects that we have. Among those are School Based Feeding
Program wherein, beginning and ending data should be indicated. Another is NDEP -
National Drug Education Program wherein the no. of Barkada Kontra Droga, no. of members
and officers are indicated. Next is Adolescent Reproductive Health Education, even though
no. of pregnancy cases is zero, intervention program are still insisted. It is done through
integrating the concepts on sex education across all subject areas. Next are Project Wash
in School (WiNS), Medical Dental Services, OK sa DepEd, School Based management
(SBM), IPED, ALS, Special Education, Computerized Education, Environmental Program,

Project 555, Continuous Improvement Program, School to School Partnership Programs,


School Heads Development Program, Nutritional Status, PHIL-IRI and Numeracy.

Issues and concerns must be indicated in each Programs and Projects in order to be
given proper technical assistance.

After the first topic, all participants got their break and proceed to the next topic which
was all about the Assessment of Teachers Performance based on their E-SAT and ICT
Enhancement. This topic really helps all teachers to determine their weaknesses that need
to be given proper action and need to enhance.

Lastly, she discussed about the Gender Mainstreaming and Evaluation Framework
(GMEF) for us to know our status or level by answering the assessment questionnaire in
Policy, People, Enabling Mechanism and Programs, Activities and Projects. She explain also
the importance of GAD Trainings. Also the learnings in the GAD trainings should be
integrated in every lesson or interaction to pupils/ learners.

IV. CONCLUSION

In-service training really helps teachers to grow professionally and widen their
knowledge in different topics related in teaching and management. Assessment of
Programs and Projects in school, Assessment of Teachers Performance based on their E-
SAT, ICT Enhancement and Gender Mainstreaming and Evaluation Framework (GMEF)
are really helpful for all teachers to become aware in every important aspect of teaching
and learning process.
