Do you know this young man? His name is Mark Zuckerberg, a former Harvard
student and one of the founders of Facebook. Facebook is the second largest
social network on the web, in terms of traffic. Primarily, it focused on high school to
college students. It began in February 2004, and now probably any of the five
hundred million users worldwide is using this net. In August 2005, “thefacebook”
was officially called Facebook. Facebook’s service is completely free. Facebook
had many legal issues especially in the privacy sector where its privacy policy
states “Facebook also collects information about you from other sources, such as
newspapers and instant messaging services.” Its profile pages changed and users
can share more information than before. A typical Facebook profile consists of a
number of different sections, including Information, Status, Friends, Friends in
Other Networks, Photos, Notes, Groups, and The Wall. With more than 1.5 million
new photos daily, one of Facebook’s most popular features is the ability to upload
photos. Users can upload unlimited photos from their cell phone or through its
Java-based web interface. Facebook is one of the few services to offer an
unlimited quota, their only restriction is a 60-photos-per-album limit. The process of
uploading photos is very simple. Users create albums which they can assign
limitations to (e.g. visible to my friends only) and upload photos within them. The
album is in their profile, and other users with right credentials have the ability to
see and comment on them. Facebook also gives the feature to share the photos
with a simple web link. Facebook has the option ‘groups.’ Users can create new
ones or join and participate in existing ones. This appears in their profile and is a
good indication of hobbies and interests a person can have. There are two kinds of
groups, a normal group and a secret group, which isn’t visible on the profile.
Another Facebook success is their ‘events’ feature, which provides the ability to
organize, be part of, and plan for events. This feature is extremely successful to
organize parties. Facebook’s most recent addition is “Facebook Notes”. It allows
users to write a Facebook blog. All notes are displayed in the user’s profile, and
other members can add comments. Will you facebook today? Don’t forget the
slogan: Safety first! Also on the internet. Be careful with your posts and photos you
upload. Take care of yourself.

Thank you for all your support and love! As an artist, I am constantly looking for
new challenges and ways to express myself. One way is through my music -
another is by giving back and doing what I can to make our world a better place.

I want to share with you an issue that I am very passionate about. I believe that
every child should have the right to follow their dreams and get an education.
Growing up in Colombia, I saw that education can be a child's way out of poverty
and a way to fulfill his or her potential. It is a basic right.

Globally, 72 million children don't attend primary school and another 226 million
aren't in secondary school.

Governments must abolish school fees, hire more qualified teachers and provide
textbooks and meals in schools. And they must prioritize education.

Check out some of these links to learn more about education and how you can
help. It's amazing how much difference each person can make, so I hope you will
join me in supporting every child's right to a quality education!

Besos,
Shakira
