My Reflection

In this class English 115, helped me a lot with my writing skills. When I first enter the

classroom, I was a little bit nervous because I consider myself a bad English writer, but Professor

Beadle helped me and helped my entire class to feel comfortable to write long essays. The first

essay was a challenge for me. I had never written a long essay before and I felt scared, but with

the help of one of my classmates, she explained to me how to put everything in together and in

order. Also, I didn’t know about the great opportunity that my school has, in order to help

students with their writing skills. I was happy to know about the Learning Resort Center because

I needed a lot of help with my essays. I also heard about the Grammar Lab, it was like music to

my ears. I also was very happy to hear that because I have a lot of grammar errors. For my

Project Space essay, I went to the Learning Resource Center, in order to get help with my essay.

I received the help of Keilyn Abe. She helped me to make a strong thesis and a good conclusion

that is connected to my thesis.

In my own opinion, English 115 is a hard class for me. I did my best in all my essays.

One thing that I improve that I know for sure is that the thesis has to connect with all the essays

and also the conclusion has to connect to the thesis, everything together. Also that we can move

things in our essay, to make it more understandable and don’t make it abrupt. This class along

with the long essays will help me with my career. The essay that I saw more interesting was the

Project Text because we had to read The Metamorphosis book. The book was very interesting

too because it was related to the people who have down syndrome. Like I explain in my essay. In

this essay, I learned how two things can be equal but at the same time different. I learned how to

compare and explain both in my essay, giving evidence and supporting it.

In my Project Media essay, I learned to describe an image into words. I choose that

picture because in this century is very common to see single mothers who provide money

without any man. I also learned how to describe the purpose and the message of the visual text.

The biggest challenge about this project was to present it and, I overcome it. I went to the

Learning Resource Center for my Project Media essay. I went to the Writing Lab and I received

the help of Alden Robison. He helped me to make a strong thesis and move some parts of my

essay. In the Grammar Lab, Gretchelle Quiambao helped me to correct my essay and, she also

explained to me the students also make that mistake. I felt very comfortable working with her

because she was very nice. I also learned how to create an annotated bibliography in MLA, at

first I was confused but then I saw the page that professor Beadle give us and that helped me a

lot.

In conclusion, English 115 was a challenging class for me, but I overcome it. I did my

best in all the essays. I learned a lot and I am grateful with Professor Beadle. I learned how to

write a visual text, that was new for me and it was fun too. I know I’m not that good at writing

English but I feel that I am better than before. Project Space, Project Text and Project Media

helped me to improve my writing skills. I would recommend people to take this class with

Professor beadle because he is a patient professor, and also a great person. I learned a lot from

my classmates and my essays.
