JV sites with a single power system must be referred to Do not use after:
the Central Standards Manager, who will determine the
power system configuration for the site. No expiry date
Existing sites
Actions
The Site Designer must obtain the following information about the site, from the EBP:
With this information, calculate the DC current for each power system as follows (see the example on
the next page):
where:
- base value = 5
- RF value = 7 x nr of technology units x nr of sectors
- Transmission value = 0 if no microwave dishes used, 3 if microwave dishes present
If two power systems are required at the site, enter the DC Current value for the Optus power system,
and the battery capacity, to provide an estimate of the back-up hours for the Optus equipment, and
the number of rectifier modules. The number of battery strings is always 5 for 100Ah batteries, and 3
for 210Ah batteries.
Example
A new eJV site with two power systems is to be constructed with four Vodafone technology units and
five Optus technology units on each of three sectors. The site has a single microwave link to another
site for both operators. The power system is Huawei, and 210Ah batteries are to be used.
DC Current Calculations:
= 5 + (7 * 4 * 3) + 3
= 92 Amps
= 5 + (7 * 5 * 3) + 3
= 113 Amps
Using the Battery Calculator (SED-050), enter 92 as the Power Supply Current Reading, and select 210
from the battery capacity drop-down list. The first row (“Non-hub site”) shows the values for the eJV
Vodafone power system: 1 string of batteries and 3 rectifiers are shown as required.
Enter 113 as the Power Supply Current Reading, and 210 for the battery capacity. The last row shows
the values for the eJV Optus power system: 3 hours (estimated) battery backup, with 3 strings of
batteries and 4 rectifiers required.
