Topic for the lesson & Learning Outcomes:

· Learn vocabulary related to Arabic home.

· Figure out different types of majlis and their functions

· Share ideas and express opinions.

· Design a new majlis for the family in the future.

a) Give 3 examples of positive reinforcement
strategies that have been used.
- Verbal praises and encouragement such as
saying; good job, you can do it.
- Encouraging students to initiate and speak
English.
- Encourages students to help each other
through group task.
- Enhance their critical thinking through a
game.
b) What was efficient about these strategies?
Making the students motivated during the lesson
will help them to understand it. Where if they
were interested then they will be able to
participate and this will help them to learn
properly. In addition, making them encouraged to
speak in English will help them practicing their
language and improve it as well. Moreover,
enhancing students critical thinking is very
important, in order to make them use their minds
and motivate their learning and focus.
c) How could these strategies have been improved?
a) Give 3 examples of how differentiation has been
used to cater to all learners including those with
special needs.
She has no special need student but did some
differentiated activities. One of them was the
guessing game for kinesthetic learners. Where she
put some pictures of places and they have to run as
groups and write as much as word they can related
to the picture. In addition, she gave the visual
learners some printed reading, where they have to
read and answer some questions related to the
reading passage, and they speak about their
answers with supportive statements. Moreover,
she combined two different skill in one activity,
which is the reading one, where they spoke and
listened to each other’s answers in order to
understand more and correct their answers.
b) What was efficient about these strategies?
Making an exciting game at the beginning make the
students encouraged to have a new lesson and pay
attention, especially the lesson was related to their
culture. The reading part made the students collect
some information about the lesson, which
 She could do some motivation chart, where they
can say and feel the points on a board, which will
make them excited to collect more points and
participate. In addition, she can make the critical
thinking part individually, through providing some
worksheets with questions for each student
instead of giving them oral questions and only
few answers, which she can not evaluate their
understanding through.

and answer some questions. Moreover, asking the
students to speak and share their answers made
them happy, In which they have the chance to
share their ideas and thoughts with their
classmates, which is good in order to boost their
self-esteem.
c) How could these strategies have been improved?
These strategies could be improved more if she has
the good instructions for each. In which she
organize her time for each activity and guide the
students well. In addition, for the reading part, she
could divide the roles in between the groups, such
as the reader, the speaker, the leader and the
writer, this will encourage them more to work as a
group and support each other providing the task
for each and finish it on time. Moreover, she could
ask them to define the new terms before the
reading part, where they could understand the new
terms while reading and be able to comprehend
the text in order to answer.

Reflection (to be completed after discussion of Peer Review with colleague):
Teaching a lesson connected to the culture is a very exciting thing. The students get excited to learn and pay
attention more when it is something related to them, to their life, thoughts or even culture. However, attending a
lesson such as this one was joyful, seeing the student’s enthusiasm and the teacher as well made me feel happy
and excited with them. In addition, my colleague was excited to teach this lesson and ask me to observe because
of the topic. It was an honor to attend the lesson and discuss it with her and with her MST as well, especially that
most of our point were similar and my colleague agreed with most of them. Moreover, she was listening carefully
to my feedback in order to improve her lessons more and to be able to apply some of our suggestions to her in
the next lesson. She started her lesson with a good game, which was run and write. He students were so ready
and excited to run and write as much word as they can related to the picture on the board, which was about the
lesson (Majlis). This game was good because it gets student’s attention and focus. However, the lesson went good
and the students were able to understand the aims, but she needs some improvements in some areas, such as
time management, where she needs to specify the time for each activity. In addition, the vocabulary game would
be better if she made the terms in a short cards rather than a long one, which needed more time to be prepared
and the students were not able to understand what to do at the first. However, making the students excited until
the last part was a good job and an achievement.
