Topic for the lesson & Learning Outcomes:

· Learn vocabulary related to Arabic home.

· Figure out different types of majlis and their functions

· Share ideas and express opinions.

· Design a new majlis for the family in the future

a) Give 3 examples of positive reinforcement
strategies that have been used.
- Verbal praises and encouragement such as
saying; good job, you can do it.
- Encouraging students to initiate and speak
English.
- Encourages students to help each other
through group task.
b) What was efficient about these strategies?
These helped the students to accommodate the
lesson well as well as enjoy it. In addition, it made
the students excited to share their answers even
though some answers were incorrect.
c) How could these strategies have been improved?
She could use some other praising ways such as
stickers or marbles that students can collect as a
motivation strategy, in which they are
encouraged to answer more and accomplish the
objectives as well.
a) Give 3 examples of how differentiation has been
used to cater to all learners including those with
special needs.
- Using some visual images in order to make the
students write few words related to what they can
see on the board.
- Giving them a jigsaw task, where the upper level
student will help the lower one with the reading
and answering the questions. This strategy helped
the kinesthetic learners as well, in which they were
moving around the groups to collect the answers
and this made them fully engaged.
- Giving them designing a poster task, in which they
will summarize what they have learned through a
poster, which is for the intermediate level and
visual as well.
b) What was efficient about these strategies?
Making different strategies for different learning
styles and abilities made the students focus more
and try to give what they can during the lesson.
Such as participating and giving answers even if
they were not sure about it.
 c) How could these strategies have been improved?
Making these different strategies is important but
timing them is efficient as well. These tasks could
be much better if she timed each of them properly
and made it limited. In addition, she could make
some speakers to read the passages in between
each text for the auditory learners.

Reflection (to be completed after discussion of Peer Review with colleague):

It is an honor to be able to observe my colleague in her lesson. Observing grade 12 students made me remember
myself when I was in their seats. However, after she gave the lesson, we discussed about all areas, the good one and
the one she needs to focus on more in the next lesson. My colleague totally agreed with my comments, in which,
she was aware of them after teaching and decided to improve them next time. I suggested her to manage her time,
in which, she sit the proper time for each activity in order to not waste time in one stage, and not moving to the
other. In addition, to manage the students more, in which when someone speaks they listen carefully and do not
interrupt or they could raise their hands if wanted to say something, this could be a part of her classroom rules,
which will make the students, managed well. She also needs to manage using the technology properly, so she avoid
getting in a problem throughout it. After these few comments discussion, we have had ended up with agreeing in
each point, since she was aware of them and planned to focus more on them.
