1. Our group chose flooding as our topic.

2. We chose this topic since we, as college students who commute everyday, are greatly
affected by flooding. Also many lives and properties were destroyed because of the previous
severe floods. For our group’s project, we will have the prevention of the spread of dengue
disease as an advocacy. Outbreak of dengue may originate from flooded areas. Therefore, as
advocates of the prevention of dengue, flood control is also our advocacy.

5. The DPWH is assigned to plan infrastructures such as national roads and bridges for
flood control. It is also tasked to oversee different water resources projects and other public
works. Its design and construction is also managed by the DPWH. They are to be maintained for
the continuous usage of these infrastructures. In summary, they help via providing facilities that
is used or is depended upon in controlling floods and the like.
Flood Control International is a UK based organization. It is a supplier/installer of the
most advanced and effective flood defence systems. They have been on this area of expertise
for 18 years, amassing a vast amount of knowledge and experience ensuring that the right flood
defence solution is provided. They help on environmental issues such as floodings by providing
what is needed for different clients ranging from government agencies to nuclear power
stations, even though they are simply manufacturing these flooding defence systems, being a
firm and all (and by extension probably doing so for a profit even if that isn't their main agenda).
6. We can support the advocacy of these environmental agencies by volunteerism. We can
organize drainage clean up. Aside from that, we can help promote flood control by doing
simpler and smaller things like the proper disposal of trash in order to contribute to the
prevention of clogged drainage systems.
