II. Lesson Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, learners will be able to:


 Explain noun and its different types.
 Differentiate Proper Noun and Common Noun.
 Change Nouns from singular to plural.
 Identify nouns in given sentences.

Laptop, TV, coupon bond, pen, white board marker, picture of a classroom

A. Preparatory Activities

B. Motivation
The teacher will scribble words on the board that will define the meaning of noun. The teacher
will ask the class to assemble the given sentence.

After the definition has been assembled, the teacher will show a picture of a classroom. Ask the
students to use the noun that they see on the picture in a sentence.

C. Activate Prior Knowledge


The teacher will ask the students about what other nouns they have encountered at their homes,
local churches, parks and use it in a sentence.

D. Lesson Proper
Noun – a word function as a noun if it is used as a name of person, place things, ideas, feelings or
events.

Ex.
Person Place Things
 Jose Rizal  Quezon City  Ball
Ideas Feelings
 Atheism  Love

a. Proper Noun and Common Noun


Proper Noun is a specific name of a noun while Common Noun is the general name of a noun.

Ex.
Proper Noun Common Noun
Adventist University of the Philippines School/University

b. Count Nouns and Non-count Nouns


Count Nouns – are nouns that we can count (1, 2, 3…) like chairs, books, children, geese.
Count nouns are divided into two categories; regular and irregular.

Regular Cns are count nouns where we only observe the following in creating their plural
forms:
 Add -s or –es like: chair-chairs, class-classes
 Change y to i and add –es like: city-cities, university-universities
 Change f to v and add –es like: knife-knives, wife-wives

Irregular Cns are count nouns where we do not follow the traditional rule to make them plural.
Ex. Goose-geese, mouse-mice, cactus-cacti

E. Application
Students will answer a graphic organizer.

F. Valuing
The teacher will ask these questions:
1. Why is it important to know the different kinds of noun?
2. Is it relevant for writing?

G. Generalization

Nouns are one of the content words in sentences. Students must be well-informed with such for
them to efficiently write effective and complete sentences.
VII. Evaluation
The teacher will give a quiz. Student must label the different kinds of noun in the sentences
given: Ex.

1. I need the hammer and the nails.


2. Elijah ate the widow’s last morsel of bread
3. This is the last cupcake.
4. I need the tools.
5. The geese are flying.
