INTRODUCTION

On-the-job training' is to acquaint the students formally to a real life work place
environment. This will help to explore the relationship between the knowledge & skills
acquired in college with those required in the working situations. This enables students to
understand and respond better to the market demand. On the job training is an opportunity to
take a glimpse into the world of works. If you’ve been in school for years, this first glimpse can
show you how office work to be done , what workers are like and how they are perceived by
their peers. If you look closely enough, you will notice important factors that make some people
stand out above others.( Barron,J.,2018)

On-the-Job Training is an important topic of human resource management. It helps

develop the career of the individual and the prosperous growth of the organization. It is a form
of training provided at the workplace. Student -trainee are familiarized with the working
environment they are working with. It is an important tool in arranging , managing and
simplifying the process in adapting to the new workplace. ( Texler,J.,2018)

On-the-job training uses existing tools, machines, documents, equipment and

knowledge to teach a student-trainee how to effectively do their job. It may be providing you
with the stepping stones needed to get your career going and land your first real job. Also
remember that this gives you the opportunity to prove your worth, and you would be surprised
to see how many interns end up being employed full time by the company they are doing the
internship for, when they perform and have proved their worth. If you have worked hard and
gone the extra mile, they will certainly be able to provide you not only with the necessary skills
you need for your resume, but also great a reference letter that you can keep on file for future
reference. ( Heartfielsd, S. 2019)
