Lesson Plan

I. Objective
At the end of the discussion the learners are expected to:
 Identify the senses and figurative used in a descriptive essay

 Write a descriptive essay consisting of not more than 5 paragraphs
that pertains to the most memorable moment of their lives
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Descriptive Writing
Timeframe: 1 hour and 30 minutes

IV. Procedure
A. Reviewing previous lesson
 The teacher recaps the previous discussion which is all about
argumentative writing.
B. Establishing a purpose
 The teacher will let her students realize the purpose why the topic
should be discussed and the significance of the topic to their lives.
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson
 The teacher will present a picture and will provide two (2)
descriptions and will let her students choose which description
produces clearer descriptive writing.
D. Motivation
 The teacher will provide a sample essay of descriptive writing and
will let her students identify what words are used in the write-ups.
 After that, the teacher will also let her students share their
observations with the given sample essay.
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills
 The teacher will discuss the topic which is about descriptive writing.
She will first give the definition of descriptive writing. Followed by the
purpose or goal of descriptive writing. Then, the guidelines and steps
in writing a descriptive essay. After which will be the features and
characteristics, parts of a good descriptive essay, and tips and
presenting examples of descriptive writing. Lastly, elements of
descriptive writing, how to write good descriptive essay, and the
revising the descriptive essay will follow.
F. Developing Mastery
 The teacher will give a short drill to the class. Specifically a 10-item
drill to develop mastery on the topic.
G. Generalization
 The teacher will ask series of questions to the class with regards to
the topic discussed.
The following questions will be asked:
• In your own words, what then is descriptive writing?
• What is the ultimate goal of descriptive writing?
• What guideline(s) have you remembered from the
discussion? Can you share your view about it.
• What are the steps in writing a descriptive essay?
• What are the features and characteristics of descriptive
writing?
• How many parts of descriptive writing discussed? What were
they?
• Give me at least one tip on how to write a good descriptive
essay?
• What are the elements in writing a descriptive essay?
• How will you revise your descriptive essay?
H. Evaluation
 The teacher will conduct a quiz to the class. It will be two type-type
quiz. Each type is compose of 10-item which make it 20-item quiz.
