1. Disconnect the battery clamp of the negative pole.

2. Loosen the oil filler cap to allow excess pressure to

vent from the engine.

3. Remove the heat shield from the EGR pipe from

control valve to cooler to allow easier inspection.

4. Loosen the air inlet pipe from air filter to

turbocharger.

5. Attach shop air to the special tool (A).

Make sure that it is set to 0 bar [0 psi]

A
before installing it.

6. Install the special tool (A) into the hose (2).

7. Reuse the hose clamp (3), and tighten it to the

specified torque. 1

8. Use a clamping strap (1) to attach the tether to a

hard mount. i402506-2

9. Loosen the flexible pipe from the exhaust pipe after

the back pressure valve.

10. Reuse the exhaust gasket.

11. Install the special tool (B).

In some applications, it is more

convenient to install the special tool (B) B 4

directly after the back pressure valve.

12. Reuse the V clamp (4), and tighten it to the specified

torque.

13. Provide shop air to the special tool (A), and slowly

set it to 0.3 bar [5 psi].

14. Observe the special tool (A) and (B) during the test.
■ Incorrect installation can cause the
special tool (A) to come out of the
hose (2).
■ Do not pressurize the system to
more than 0.5 bar [7 psi]. Doing so
can cause personal injury and
damage the engine.
15. Spray soapy water onto the intake and exhaust
manifold, EGR cooler, pipes, and hose connections,
including the CAC, and check for leakage.
If leaks are found:
■ Take pictures of the leak locations.
■ Depressurize the system, then repair the leaks
according to Engine Rapido and/or PACCAR
MX Engine Support Center for the relevant
component.

Depressurize the system before

removing parts. Failure to do so can
cause personal injury and damage
the engine.
■ Repeat the leak test until all leaks are repaired.
16. Remove the special tool (A) and (B).
17. Install all piping.

Use a new gasket and V clamp (4) for the

exhaust pipe.
The hose clamp (3) may be reused on the
air inlet pipe.
