As a class we learned and practiced several skills outlined in the syllabus. They would include
“Approaching new computer-based tasks more easily and with greater confidence.”, “Analyze a
variety of problems, select the appropriate software application to solve problems, and use
software programs to find and/or present solutions” and “Locate, open, and use the following
presentation, web page development, internet search strategies, and Canvas course management
system.”.
These were a few of the objective goals in the syllabus that I feel like I can attest to the most in
the course. The first learning outcome is one that I immediately identified with and can speak
too. For example, one of the computer-based tasks I gained much confidence in was Excel and
Google Drive. Before this class I used Excel about two times and had only used Google Drive in
some lab classes on occasion when I would need to share documents with lab mates. Through the
google drive project I learned how to use the program more quickly and efficiently. The Excel
project was especially a challenge for me, even when guided by the video attached to the
activity. Eventually I got more confident using the tools and eventually became adept in using it.
It had almost an immediate affect and I’m now the only student worker at my job that uses the
program.
The second learning outcome was also a standout to me, on the projects in which you could
choose from several programs. This was useful as well and I kept many of the programs I used in

these projects for later projects in other classes. It was also was also useful to experiment with a
few of the programs before picking the one that I thought was the best option for me. I’ve
already used a few of these programs for a couple projects in my other classes. These projects
helped me and continue to help me in projects and organizing other affairs for myself.
The last learning outcome is the one on the syllabus that I resonate most with in my time in the
class. The biggest and most difficult project also made me proficient with multiple kinds of
media and computer programs that I can now use more confidently. The project was the digital
storytelling, even though I fell asleep and didn’t turn it in. Regardless I used all the things that
specific learning outcome said. I spliced sound clips, used the apple movie software, used
multiple kinds of documents and convert some images to different formats to make them
compatible with the other programs. Then I had to put all of this together to complete the project
and upload it all to YouTube. This project was very difficult but through that pain and time that I
used to do this, it did help me greatly in using the varied array of programs that I had to
incorporate into the project. Overall this class was a good choice and has helped me not only to
complete this class but also became an advantage with classes in the future.
