Final Reflection

Reflection on technology

A common theme in each project during the technology literacy course is that I

was taught a variety of uses for technology that I have not considered before hand,

especially when it came to the project where we used powerpoint to make an

application or the project in which I experienced virtual reality for the first time. This

course had many opportunities for learning experiences with the amount of projects we

have done and I personally found my learning to be both informative or personal. I was

surprised about how much I was able to learn and produce throughout this course. The

amount of knowledge I learned became clear when I reflected on each of the projects

during and after completion, which is interesting because I felt as though more time

would have allowed for higher quality projects.

Projects deadlines can prove to be an issue with any project, especially when the

project needs a longer production time, but in order to make sure the final product is

good, I found myself setting a lot of time aside in order to finish the project effectively.

After evaluating the amount of time needed for a project, finishing projects on time

becomes much easier. Time managing is a big part of being a good employee and that

mentality helped produced my final projects. I also found it a challenge to produce a

product that felt high quality, but that was not a feeling as soon as I began to think of

the purpose and requirements of the assignment. I found projects where I had to speak

also a challenge, however, I learned a script makes the project significantly more

doable. Now finishing projects is easier because I began to think about the project on a

deeper level.

Before this course, I rarely thought about technology in a complex way, or at all. I

now think of technology as a tool that can be used differently than intended to be more

useful society. Technology is more advanced than I thought and this course has taught

me that, especially when the project needed more thinking to be completed. Today,

people can easily produce high quality products if they have knowledge on technology

and I would not have known the importance of technological knowledge if I had not

taken this course.

Later projects I have done in this course were higher quality compared to earlier

projects and had more thought put into the overall process of completion. Thinking

about any product for a longer amount of time will allow only for higher quality products

to be the end result. I approached projects more effectively as the course continued on

due to better understand a proper work load for the course’s projects. Effectively using

time allows for producing better final product that I could make on my own time with my

own skills.

Most of my peers had projects that were more entertaining than mine due to

multiple people working on the project and the project was completely thought out

before leaving class the day it was assigned. Working with a partner would have made

projects better due to the ability to get input easily and allow for a conversation to keep

an audience engaged when it came to project like the podcast. Outlining a project in

greater detail than what was asked of, which I saw many of my peers do, allows for the

production time of a project time to go down. Spending less time producing a draft of a

project allows for more revisions to be done to the final product, which is critical for an

entertaining product.

When it comes to the podcast project in this course, I would have added more

content to finished product due to the fact that speaking about my thoughts is difficult

to me. Creating the podcast was more difficult than it should have been for me. I

personally believe the final products of my projects were not engaging or entertaining

enough and I will consider that if I had to redo any of the projects in the course. I also

would attempt to have a higher quality product by using higher audio and visual

equipment for my projects because I want to have as high quality products going

foward.

For short term goals, I hope to have a better GPA by being more effective with my

time. Critical thinking is important while going through university, so I also wish to

spend more time processing information I am taught instead of absorbing it and doing

nothing with the information. Having a high quality education includes actually learning

the content you are being taught. The biggest future goal of mine is to make a change in

a child’s life by being an engaging and inspirational educator. My future career as an

educator will require use of technology and I hope to continue to learn how to keep my

students engaged with technology in my classroom.
