When you hear the word nature, what comes into your mind? Do you think it is important? Does it gives sense to us? If yes, why there are a lots of people continue destroying? What would be the effective way to continue the cleanliness in our Barangay Discipline? Cooperation? Love of the country? Can we still preserve the nature for the next generation? Based on what I observe in our community and our Barangay, lack of discipline is mainly the reason of the things that destroys our nature like piles of garbage every night on some market, after they clear all of their things they will just stack their garbage in to one place and let those garbage pile up. One example of it are the cluttered garbage’s seen in Alabang, Muntinlupa after celebrating New Year because of the people passing by and simply dropping the trash to the ground. This just shows how irresponsible Filipinos are, and when a calamity comes in they will get flooded easily because of the trashes being stuck into water drainer especially plastic in which would take about 1000 years to biodegrade. For example, a heavy rainfall, they will complain it to the Government and will say that they are not doing their job to prevent some areas from flooding even if they’re the one who should be blamed for not taking responsibility of their wastes. And that’s just one example of a calamity caused by being irresponsible and the lack of discipline of us. If we don’t take actions and stop destroying our nature now, then eventually nature will destroy us. As a student, if I would be given a chance to help people or to raise awareness about the causes and effects of improper waste disposal I would gladly start a campaign in which the goal obviously is to lessen the waste we humans produce because we cannot prevent it, it’s in the nature of a human to produce waste but it’s not an excuse to be irresponsible. First, is to enlighten them on what are the causes and effects of these problems. People are unaware of the consequences of their unwise acts. They do not think of what will be the effect of their every action concerning Mother Nature. They throw their waste in what place they want carelessly thinking on what will be the effect of that one indisposed properly trash. Health-related issues are also a concern especially to those living in rural areas or squatter places in which diseases are very common. Climate change, soil contamination, air pollution are just some of the many effects of improper waste disposal. Second is to take action, a very well-known way to manage solid waste is recycling. Recycling works on the principle of not completely disposing of anything that could be used and not introducing new, unnecessary raw materials which would need to be disposed of later. Reducing the volume of our waste is a great first step in dealing with the problem of waste management. Materials such as paper, glass, aluminum, etc. that can be recycled should be recycled. It has several advantages. You could save money. You could save resources. You could reduce the amount of waste created. You could also help just by doing small things such as carrying your own reusable shopping bag when you’re out for shopping and separating your trash at home can contribute to reducing the amount of total waste generated by everyone. Just by these simple things, we could lessen the strain on the environment. Imagine all the benefits we can get if we take good care of our environment. I’m not the only one who thinks about this, we are many. That’s why I know we can still change, starting from our Families, to Barangays, Cities, Nation, and eventually the whole world. We need to take good care of the things that give benefits to us. Learn to love and to cherish our Mother Nature because these are the ways to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness in our surroundings. Just like the saying "Love the nature as your own self; then you can truly care for all things.” Take good care of our nature as our own, and as our own, we should take good care of it. Remember, love and discipline is the key towards a beautiful community so that we can pass it to the next generation and they can avail and improve the beauty and be well developed.
