Shape waist Dec 1 st at beg and end of next
row, then every 8th row 3 times—70 (76, 84) sts.
Inc 1 st at beg and end of every 6th row 4
times—78 (84, 92) sts. Work even until piece
measures 13½ (12¾, 12½)”/34 (32.5, 31.5)cm.
Shape armholes Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2
rows, then dec 1 st at beg and end of every RS
row 4 (5, 6) times—64 (68, 74) sts. Work even
until armhole measures 6¾ (7½, 7¾)”/17.5 (19,
20)cm. Shape neck Work to center 28 sts, join
another ball of yarn and bind off center 28 sts,
work to end. Working both sides at once, bind off
3 sts at each neck edge; then bind off 1 st at
each neck edge. When armhole measures 7¾ (8½
, 8¾)”/20 (21.5, 22.5)cm, bind off rem 14 (16,
19) sts for each shoulder.

inc at end of every RS row 8 times. Work 4 rows even.
Shape V-neck Dec 1 st at end of next RS row, then
alternately on every 2nd and 4th row 17 times more.
When armhole measures same as back to shoulder,
bind off rem 14 (16, 19) sts for each shoulder.
RIGHT FRONT
Work same as for left front, rev all shaping.
CENTRAL DIAMOND INSERT
Cast on 30 sts. Beg with a WS row, purl, then
cont in lace pat. When piece measures 5”/13cm,
bind off all sts.
SLEEVES
Cast on 60 (66, 72) sts. Beg with a WS row, purl first
row, then cont in lace pat. When piece measures
5”/13cm, shape cap as foll: Bind off 3 sts at beg of
next 2 rows, then dec 1 st at beg and end of every RS
row 7 (8, 9) times. When shaping, take care to main-
tain lace pat. Bind off rem 40 (44, 48) sts.
FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeves into arm-
holes. Sew side and sleeve seams. Edging
Work 1 rnd rev sc around neck edges, front
edges and lower edges. Work 1 rnd rev sc
around insert. Sew insert on top of front edges.
