Work Scenario

The project that I have been given to complete by the school principal
involves improving students in education while using technology. As an educator,
my job is to help students grow and learn subject material to state standards in each
grade level. The goal of the project given to me is to allow students to educate each
other by presenting, questioning, and gathering data from the total amount of
knowledge acquired. The subject that this project will be based around is going to
be The American Revolution. We will be using three different technologies; the
first is Microsoft PowerPoint, the second is Google Form, and the third is
Microsoft Excel.
The first technology that students will be using is Microsoft PowerPoint.
Students will be using this technology to create a presentation for the class and
myself based off of the knowledge gained on the American Revolution. The goal
of using this platform is to educate students on the American Revolution while
gaining experience on the platform. I expect the students to learn about the
platform while working on this assignment. The presentation will be used by
following the CRAP Principles. Expectations for the presentation include a title
slide, explanation of the American Revolution, a background, slide transitions,
sound to bring purpose to the presentation, animation to provide excitement, and
slide numbers. The end product will conduct a well-put together presentation that
keeps the audience educated and involved.
The second technology that students will be using is Google Forms. The
importance of this platform will help students gain knowledge on the amount of
information that the rest of the class has learned from their own presentation. The
Google Form should have a set of at least five questions being a different type. The
different types of questions will provide each student with experience on different
ways to use technology within Google Forms. As a result of the Google Form
being created, students will answer the form questions to help the presenter and
myself gather the amount of knowledge gained to pass an exam revolving around
the American Revolution.
The third technology that students will be using is Microsoft Excel. This
technology will be used by students to gather data with test score results and
Google Form answers. The test score and Google Form results will show me as an
educator what the students have learned from the American Revolution chapter.
On the Microsoft Excel assignment, I encourage students to use the data from the
two resources to create a spreadsheet. Students will need to use at least two
formulas throughout this assignment to show understandings of how to use
formulas on this platform. Students will also need to use conditional formatting at
least once to apply to cells. Lastly, students need to provide a chart on the
spreadsheet that applies to the data filled in the form. The end result of students
using Microsoft Excel will help provide students with data on how others did on
the tests and what knowledge they did/did not understand.
To summarize this project, the goal is to allow students to grow by
understanding how to use different technological programs. Another goal is to
allow students to be the presenter of a certain topic and gain knowledge from the
information and others knowledge. The three different platforms used were
Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Forms, and Microsoft Excel. All three are
wonderful and easy to use programs that will help you grow an understanding for
digital literacy. At the end of the year, this project will benefit the school by
improving test scores, a better understanding for technology, and a better
understanding of the subject material given by the educator.
