TITLE OF PODCAST
Indigenous Voices : The Lakota Creation Story

PODCAST TOPIC

The topic of my podcast is going to be about different stories among

the Lakota people. The Lakota people were storytellers, and holders
of an oral tradition, and through my podcast I will continue the
tradition of storytelling. Some examples of stories would be about
IKtomi (the Trickster Spider), the Star Boy and the 7 Sisters, the Boy
and the Bear, and the Lakota Creation Story.
GENRE OF PODCAST

The genre of my podcast would mainly be mainly historical and

cultural aspects of indigenous culture through storytelling. My
podcast would fit into this genre because of the historical and
cultural input from the Lakota tribe. The podcast as a whole would
be anything and everything related to Lakota storytelling.

DESCRIPTION OF HOST
My podcast would be hosted by myself, and sometimes feature
various storytelling from different bands of the Lakota to tell stories
to the listeners”.

“Cante Zephier is a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe, as well as

part of the Spirit Lake Tribe and the Navajo Nation. Cante has grown
up around the traditional ceremonies of the Lakota, and has been an
active member of her Medicine Horse Society. She has grown up
hearing these stories told to her as a child by her grandparents, and
wishes to share them with you. Cante’s podcast looks to educate
natives and non natives about the diverse and intricate stories of the
Lakota.”

ESTIMATED LENGTH OF SHOW

My desired length would be depending on how long the story is, but
usually around 10-15 minutes. Stories tend to be short, for most of
them are meant for children, which means short attention spans.

PROPOSED FREQUENCY OF SHOW

For my podcast I would upload a new episode once a month, putting

out 12 episodes a year. The reason for this is because it takes time
to research, find elders who remember the story, and to record.

2
PODCAST FORMAT STRUCTURE

I chose this format because the story can be told in different parts,
and native music acts as a perfect transition between sections of the
story.

1. Greeting
2. Intro music
3. Part 1 of story
4. Transition Music
5. Part 2 of History
6. Transition Music
7. Part 3 of History
8. Outro music
SCRIPT VS OUTLINE

In my podcast I will use a scripted narrative to help me stay focused

and to help my problem of ranting/rambling. Using a scripted
narrative is super helpful in the fact that the information I have
provided

COVER IMAGE

The image I chose was a picture I took of a tipi back home on the
reservation. The tipi is the traditional home of the Lakota, so it fits in
with the topic. Lakota stories were usually shared inside the home.
